SOFT TERRITORIES: DATA, SPACE & FRAGILE GROUNDS

An exhibition on shifting terrains of space, environment, and data, bringing together Ms Litto, Felix Lenz with Lily Zlotover, and Julian Palacz at NODE Media Lab in Vienna.

Exhibition Opening: Tuesday, 16 December 18.00-21.00

Soft Territories looks at how contemporary territories are continuously rewritten through data — and how those data systems remain entangled with fragile physical grounds. The exhibition approaches space not as a fixed container but as a mutable field: scanned, sensed, leaked into, and reassembled through technological mediation. Territories are “soft” not because they are immaterial, but because they are perpetually in flux — shaped by invisible signals, computational translations, and the shifting conditions of the environments they inhabit.

„Reterritorialized Spaces“ are created by Litto using a digital documentation process of performances in public spaces. In a specifically developed recording process, the surrounding space of a performer is captured by a mirror worn on her head and a LIDAR scanner.“

The installation is still accessible publicly and virtually via @theartificialmuseum  Together with Conny Zenk, Litto reterritorialized the Brigittenauer Bridge using her unique scanning technique. The ride down the bridge, combined with mirrored reflections, transforms this act into a virtual sculpture during the performance set.

In the 1970s, the Brigittenauer Bridge was intended as a connecting highway for the planned „Gürtel Highway”. The successful protest that prevented the highway’s construction deserves to be commemorated as a monument to civic engagement and the power of community action.

SPIRAL BIKE von @radperformance präsentiert Konzerte und Klangkunst am Fahrrad, mit mobilen Lautsprechern, in Bewegung und unter freiem Himmel. Das Fahrrad wird zum Medium für Sound Art im öffentlichen Raum und zur Inspiration für musikalische und performative Werke. Als Schwarm mit mobilen PA Lautsprechern, bewegt sich die RAD Performance durch die Stadt. Die Straße wird zur Bühne, das Fahrrad zum Soundbike, die kollektive Ausfahrt zum Konzert.
