BIG SLEEPS NEEDS US 🙏❤️

It’s been over six weeks since our brother @bigsleeps suffered a devastating stroke… and he still hasn’t woken up 😔

After weeks in the hospital, Sleeps has now been moved to a rehabilitation facility where they can begin physical therapy and continue fighting toward that next step. But this is going to be a long road—and an incredibly expensive one.

Sleeps can’t work. The hospital and medical bills are stacking up, and now the cost of continued care and rehabilitation is only beginning.

This is a man who has spent his life giving back to the tattoo and art community. Now it’s our turn to show up for him.

Today would have been David’s last test before his KIDNEY TRANSPLANT ♥️ Very few people knew that we had already found a donor and that we were preparing for the transplant. We were so close. This month David would have received his KIDNEY TRANSPLANT. David and I were already talking about what life would look like afterwards and preparing ourselves for this new chapter. Then, in an instant everything changed. Of course there has been moments when I’ve asked God, Why now ? Why when we were so close? As his wife, it hurts knowing how much David had already been through and seen everything he is going through now. But one thing I know about David, and me is that our faith has always been bigger than our fear. 🙏🏽 We both believe in God. We both trust God. And I know without a doubt that if David could speak to me right now, he will remind me to keep the faith. We may have had plans for the transplant, for his recovery, and for what our life was going to look like afterwards, but we also know that God’s plans are greater than ours. So instead of asking why, I’m choosing to say, God, we trust you.. we trust you with David, we trust you with his healing, we trust you even if we don’t understand. This month was supposed to be the beginning of a new chapter for us. The transplant was the miracle we thought we were waiting for. But I still believe God is working in David life,and still believe there are miracles ahead of us. David and I have always believe in the power of Pryer, and that has not changed. If anything are faith means even more now. So today, although my heart thinks about where we thought we would be this month, I’m choosing to be thankful for where David is today -for every moment, every little response ,every bit of progress, and every additional day God gives me with my husband. This may not be the journey David and I planned, but we know we are walking by faith and God is with us. God is still writing our story… by @ms.sleeps

A new chapter… but one David and I already dreamed about together. ❤️

Before David got sick, he and I had already talked about bringing our tattoo studio together with @mergerink. It was something we were excited about, but as David started not feeling well, life got in the way and we never had the chance to really start working on it.

Then our whole world changed.

Since July 15, my focus has been David sitting beside him, talking to him, praying over him and believing with everything in me that God still has the final say. 🙏🏽

But I realized I can’t let David’s dreams sit still just because he can’t be here right now to work on them himself.

So behind the scenes, we’ve been working.

We are bringing the studio into Merger Ink, another company David and I built alongside our business partners. And this means so much more to me now.

The whole purpose behind Merger has always been coming together artists and people joining forces, helping one another and understanding that we’re stronger as a team than trying to do everything alone.

And right now, that’s exactly what’s happening for David.

Our family, friends, business partners, artists and community are all coming together and carrying a little piece while he fights.

That’s Merger. ❤️

My biggest prayer is that, God willing, when David wakes up, he gets to see that while he was fighting, we were fighting for his dreams too. That everything we talked about kept moving forward and the people he trusted helped carry it when he couldn’t.

So this next chapter is for you, David.

I’m learning, I’m scared, and some days I don’t know what the hell I’m doing. 😂 But I’m doing it because I know what we talked about. I know what you wanted. And I got you.

God willing, one day I’ll sit next to you, show you everything we’ve been working on and say:

“See? I told you I had you.” ❤️

Until then, we keep building.
We keep believing.
And we keep moving forward together.

Happy 22nd birthday, Sarah.. I know this birthday doesn’t feel the same but just know that Papi wants you to be happy and celebrate. When he wakes up, he’ll take you to Korean barbecue Ikea guys always used to do. But for now you’re stuck with me. Another chapter in David’s journey begins today. ❤️🙏🏽
We’re leaving behind a place that held some of our hardest days, countless prayers, and tears. Now we move forward to the next step in David’s care.
I’m trusting God to go before us, guide every doctor and nurse, and continue holding David in His hands.
The journey isn’t over. We keep praying, we keep believing, and most of all, we keep loving him through every step. ❤️

If you know David, then you know Champ. ❤️🐾

Champ isn’t just David’s dog — he’s his best friend, his boy, his family. Everyone who knows Big Sleeps knows just how much Champ means to him and how special their bond is.

We brought Champ with us to prayer night on Tuesday, and when it was time to leave… he didn’t want to go. He just wanted to stay there. 🥺

Somehow, they know. They feel things we can’t explain.

Champ is waiting for his best friend to come back to him, just like all of us are.

Keep praying for David. Keep calling his name. Keep believing with us. 🙏🏽

We love you, Big Sleeps. There are so many people waiting for you — and one very special four-legged best friend who misses you more than words could ever say. ❤️🐾

I owe a great deal to Sleeps. We serendipitously met when I was just starting my career. He became a collaborator, a mentor, an inspiration. We traded work back and forth and supported each other's endeavors. He penned custom, hand-drawn lettering for music video titles, introduced me to countless people, tattooed me and most importantly embraced me with open arms as the idiot I am. When Sleeps traveled, he would drop off a hard drive full of photos and videos he and Monica had shot in some new part of the world. My end of the bargain was to cut a mini travel vlog from all this material. These videos encapsulate an important part of history. We see the world through Sleeps' and Monica's eyes. We see the world reacting to them, welcoming them and embracing them. I look back on these videos and see a younger me beginning to learn (and sometimes overuse) techniques that now bring me joy and individuality. I see friendship. I see art. I see talent. I see determination. I see history. I see respect. I see love. by @ms.sleeps

Quick update with @bigsleeps 🙏. For those of you that haven’t heard… He suffered a stroke this morning right before leaving his house for dialysis. The ambulance was unable to take him to Cedar Sinai… So we are waiting for him to stabilize so he can get moved over there hopefully in the next day or two. He is not breathing on his own and he has blood in his brain, but they were able to drain some of the blood trying to stabilize him so they can move him over to his regular hospital and Doctor. Please keep the prayers coming… With the power of prayer we can get him back on his feet. Thank you everybody, much love. We will keep you posted. - @unclejeremy by @ms.sleeps
