… through the labyrinth

It’s called the city of a thousand windows, and the view of the old town from the bridge explains why. Once you step inside, you wander through a labyrinth of steep, narrow alleys. Sometimes they lead to courtyards the size of a living room, sometimes to a terrace, and sometimes they end in dead ends.

This hour of the day lies in the hands of the guardian goddess Dysis. This celestial figure has often been depicted in literature and art as a beautiful goddess holding a golden orb as it disappears behind the horizon.

Dysis is one of the Horae, the goddesses in Greek mythology who oversee the orderly course of life. She was regarded as the personification of the setting sun, symbolizing the end of the day and the transition to darkness.

The Rio-Antirrio Bridge, officially Charilao's Trikoupis Bridge, spans the Gulf of Corinth. It connects the cities of Rio in the Peloponnese and Antirrio on the mainland. The bridge, which is 2.90 km long in total, consists of the 2.25 km long main bridge over the sea. It is one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in the world.
