Many years ago @peachesnisker came into my shop and bought this cape. It was the same cape worn in the fashion show I put on a few months earlier and was worn in the finale look same sex wedding. I’ve always loved Peaches work, the doing your own thing, sexy, not for you, for me, sexy, strong, weird, camp and ferocious. So it’s such a treat to see the great human herself wearing that Edgeley cape for this excellent interview by @msmirandasawyer to promote her new album No Lube �So Rude. This really sums up a lot of my ethos too - “It’s important to me to have both humour and power,” says Peaches. In this week’s rerun of A Stitch in Time we attempt to unravel the secrets of the Arnolfini portrait - one of the most debated paintings in western art history. As Secondhand September comes to an end, a round-up of recent @britishsewingbee looks from the season that’s just finished.

Some of these were sourced from secondhand stores in Antwerp (pics 1 and 4), some were heirlooms (the gold waistcoat that belonged to my dad) or borrowed (the surf shirt from @hellorobflowers). They are all secondhand.

Secondhand clothes have always been my greatest love and have really given me a career, so here’s to secondhand clothes, yes in September, but also all year round 🥂🙌🏽

My dad’s been very unwell lately and he was a really brilliant illustrator. He taught me so much about how to see things, the beauty of a line, colours and shadows, I owe him so much. So I got out my paints today and painted this excellent new parka by Christopher Kane for Mulberry. I just love it when @kanechristopher82 takes an item you’d never look twice at and makes it covetable. This is fashion designer witchery. This whole collection, taking the flaps of the famous Bayswater bags and putting them everywhere, on mini skirts, tops and down the front of car coats, the axe heels, the dour colour palette the granny meets city slicker, the sulky teenager baggy jumpers, the loafers with locks, the slater beetle silk layered dresses. I so want to hide in an orange parka with a bitchy little axe bag under my arm. by @ms_edgeley

I got to create a special Endora for Stella Angelico to wear for a performance with @3burners at the @ausindies awards. I made a lilac sequin slip to sparkle under the orchid and mulberry silk georgette gown. Fabulous photos by @lucy_partington_weddings #edgeleybabes by @ms_edgeley
