6 YEARS. Can you believe it?! Feels like yesterday I was wearing XL @paradiseamazing cotton Lycra all day every day, eating like a LEGEND waiting for life to never be the same again. Happy birthday to my first born. Everybody’s eating cake today. These two are the reason I get up everyday. Because they wake me up everyday. One day. I shall sleep. But for now, I just pray, caffeinate, and pray.
Thanks @jo_duck for capturing this first shot before I destroyed these shoes but thankfully not my ankle trying for a REALLY special shape that involved trying to climb on Kevin + a chair, plus a lot of dirt.. no children were harmed but these shoes are dead. Time to go to vegas and get a new pair… x

In this week’s rerun of A Stitch in Time we attempt to unravel the secrets of the Arnolfini portrait - one of the most debated paintings in western art history. As Secondhand September comes to an end, a round-up of recent @britishsewingbee looks from the season that’s just finished.

Some of these were sourced from secondhand stores in Antwerp (pics 1 and 4), some were heirlooms (the gold waistcoat that belonged to my dad) or borrowed (the surf shirt from @hellorobflowers). They are all secondhand.

Secondhand clothes have always been my greatest love and have really given me a career, so here’s to secondhand clothes, yes in September, but also all year round 🥂🙌🏽

My artful death doula for Dance Palace Luna Park last show was and still is Svetlana Bunic 🪗💀 @svetaccord We were privvy to Moira’s formidable performances back in the nineties and I’m over the moon to have been invited as artist in residence as The Skeleton Painter. Wardrobe Heroes week on @britishsewingbee and I absolutely LOVED exploring the evolution of the leather jacket, from pilots and motorcycling favourite the Schott Perfecto, to rock n’roll ❤️🏍️🎵🪡

When The Wild One was released in 1953, the New York Times critic remarkably highlighted the film’s “grotesque costumes,” but the image of Marlon Brando in black leather jacket, white T-shirt and blue jeans not only encapsulated the celluloid rebel of the 1950s, but became a uniform of post-war youth culture.

And Lloyd Johnson revived the leather jacket for a new generation in the late ‘70s with his label La Rocka! excellently sported later by George Michael in his Faith video ❤️
