Shakespeare in the Kitchen! Here’s your Daily Dose of Diva: while doing a costume trial for my alter ego(@mskatasstrophy ), my BFA popped out for a moment 🤣🤣🤣 Sonnet 29, featuring the pepper from dinner in my teeth (it adds depth lolol)

At SUNY Purchase we all had to learn a few of the same Sonnets for Leigh and this one was a favorite for most everyone - let me know how I did on my take and if you come after my scansion then know it’s been almost 10 years since I even thought of this, I can’t believe it sprung to my memory so crisp. :))

I feel so lucky to have found such comfort as a performer in Burlesque, a performing art space that houses all the greatest loves of my life, Theatre, Singing and Dancing - mixed into a big bouncy bundle of sexy magic that embraces expression and exploration. :)

Funnily enough - the sexy part is one of the least “important” elements of the whole art form in my eyes, though I find it powerful - it’s the story telling, ability to mix all my art forms into performance art, personality based/customizable journey your soul takes(it takes knowing yourself to get this campy AND bare it all, okay?!?), challenge that is costuming and the community support both within the community and from the audience that make this art form my chosen home.

I love challenging myself to explore the potential of every act through story telling. I watch for the perspective each artist brings their chosen story, the molding of an act unique to the performers passions and strengths(be it singing, fire play, tap dance, acrobatics, fans, etc), theatricality/expressive exploration, the details of the costume curation in telling the chosen story and a sense of freedom and fun executing it all. And it all has to come together in the perfect mix of practice, technique and effortlessness, it’s as difficult as it is rewarding to pull off!

IF you are a performer of any kind that wants to brush up any act you’ve gotten stuck on or want to polish - reach out (DM) for information on coaching! I’m available for coaching immediately and some theatre based classes will be available as early as fall!!

Captured my soul in motion.

This is one of the most moving pieces of media ever taken of my dancing. It’s got magic woven into it. Tim grabbed up a little bit of the pure soul you can only see in person/in motion and got it into a still… you may not have worked with photographers as much as I have…. that’s crazy camera talent.

My Jacksonville DEBUT burlesque performance and my ALL TIME DEBUT BURLESQUE SINGING performance will be MAY 22nd with The @bbrevue at @bluejayjax and tickets are available!!! I’ll be embodying a Rose centered performance for the Floral Fantasy theme and I can’t wait to see you there!!

If you follow @mskatasstrophy, my raunchier/twerkier burlesque persona, you’ll definitely be seeing more of me, more in costume making and more in the art of burlesque very soon. ;)
