After nearly a decade in #blackmaternalhealth it was an honor to attend my first #bmhc black maternal health conference the year of @blackmamasmatter tenth anniversary! It was incredible to hear from the Black women across the field leading the work to revolutionize Black birthing experiences globally and made me grateful to be part of it.

Highlights include

- learning from the brilliant Fadesola Adetosoye and her work with McKinsey Institute on making an economic case for Black maternal health

- holding space and learning about healing, ally ship and reciprocity from the Black birth workers of New Mexico

- Seeing my fav radical queer dynamic duo @ihartericka and @ebonydonnley after fan girling on the internet forever
- Presenting our transformative work with @mamacertifiedcincy with beloved friends and conspirators @msjosselyno and @doriansheryce

- Meeting so many passionate researchers, birth workers, leaders, advocates, table shakers that have built and sustained the @blackmamasmatter movement for ten years !!! by @msloochielu

I’m so proud to share that the documentary I helped produce—Jimmy in Saigon —is now streaming for everyone to watch at home. This deeply personal film follows director Peter Forbes McDowell´s journey to uncover the truth about his brother Jimmy, a Vietnam War veteran who died mysteriously in Saigon in 1972.
It’s a story of family, identity, and healing—one that gripped me way back in 2017 when I was connected to Peter through a mutual friend Beckie Stocchetti and that we are so excited to finally share with you all!!

Thousands of morras marched on Morelia and I was so impressed and proud to be amongst them with my daughter by my side.

Another summertime adventure in the books for mommy and milla!! Love the epic journeys with my baby girl who is growing up with a heart as big as the earth, an endless thirst for adventure, brave and bold and unafraid, a village across the continent who love her and who she loves.

This trip she kept saying to me —- extraño todos mommy —i miss everyone —-because now she knows what it is to cleve your heart in two and spread it across the miles, to love so much it hurts.

We keep going even when it’s hard, hearts breaking each time we say goodbye but carrying each love within us. This is my greatest gift to my girl—- friends as family, a curiousity for what is new and comfort for what you’ve sown, a home in every port and joy joy joy to the fullest.
