As we celebrate the conclusion of the 2025-26 academic year, we would like to give a very special shout out to our teammate Desmond Ongondo who was there with us through it all!

Joining us through Team Impact, Desmond has sickle cell anemia and overcomes challenges in his day to day life. However, whether it was helping out in practice, watching film with us from his locker, or cheering on the team from the bench, his infectious energy and positive attitude made an immeasurable difference in our program!

Although the year has come to a close, we look forward to having Desmond at future MSMC games and are thrilled to have him as a Knight for life!

Only here because of the people around me. Thank you to @msmcknights leadership for the opportunity.

Thank you to Coach Kenney @keith_kk_kenney for preparing me for this moment over the last five years. I couldn’t ask for a better mentor to prepare me for the realities of running a program. Thank you for always believing in me and for giving me a path to grow as a coach. I will forever be proud to be a part of @newpaltzbasketball and what we accomplished. Grateful to have been on one of the best coaching staffs in Division III. Coach Wherry, Coach Jagacki, and Coach AK. Love you guys.

Thank you to Coach Tabb @ctabb44 for taking a chance on me, giving me my first college coaching opportunity, and for teaching me how to recruit. You significantly shaped my future and who I am as a coach.

Thank you to all of the student-athletes I have been fortunate enough to coach at @newpaltzbasketball and @wnebasketball . I am only at this point because of you guys and what you accomplished on the court. Thank you for your trust, your dedication, the laughs, and the lifelong bonds.

Finally, thank you to my amazing wife and family. Brooke, you have supported me from the time that this was all still just a dream. To get to experience it now with you and our two little rascals means the absolute world to me.

@msmc.mbb let’s get to work.

Mount Saint Mary College Director of Athletics Samantha Howe has announced the hiring of Mike Duffy as the next Head Coach of the Mount Saint Mary College men’s basketball program.

Duffy becomes the sixth head coach in program history, taking over for Ryan Kadlubowski.

Duffy arrives in Newburgh after spending the last five seasons on the coaching staff at SUNY New Paltz, where he served as the Hawks' lead Assistant Men's Basketball Coach through the 2025-26 season. During his tenure, Duffy played an integral role in helping guide the Hawks to unprecedented success within the SUNYAC Conference.

During the 2024-25 campaign, Duffy helped lead New Paltz to its best SUNYAC regular season finish in program history, as the Hawks secured the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament and earned hosting duties for the postseason for the first time ever. Duffy was also instrumental in helping the Hawks produce their winningest season in program history in 2023-24, finishing 20-8 overall while capturing the program's first-ever SUNYAC Championship. New Paltz clinched the conference title with a road upset over nationally fifth-ranked Oswego State.

Last night, we had a great time welcoming back the Orange County Flames, a Special Olympics Basketball team, to MSMC for our annual exhibition game.

It has been a pleasure to continue carrying on this tradition!

This past weekend, some of our guys spent their time volunteering at the Newburgh Armory. Along with playing basketball, the boys taught some science, relaying their knowledge of the earths layers. Proud of our guys giving back to the local community!
