After all these years I have learned that my body is not my enemy

That my body is not dramatic

That my body is not wrong

It simply works differently

I had to learn what my body was trying to tell me

I had to listen

I ignored it for a long time and that is when chaos started

But my body was always honest with me

My body always told me what I needed

And that is a language I truly had to learn

It forced me to slow down

It forced me to listen more carefully

It forced me to pay attention to myself

Something I had never done before

I never really checked in with myself

I just kept functioning and functioning

Without asking myself how I actually felt

Even now I still cross my limits sometimes

But now I know the consequences

I know that if I go out tonight

I will probably be incredibly tired the next day

And that I might not be able to handle it

But now I know my body

I know where it is worth investing my energy

And where it is not

And it was hard to learn how to listen to my body

To slow down

To pause and ask

What does my body need right now

What do we need right now

And that is what I want to share with you

I am sending you a lot of strength

I know this is not easy

But listen carefully to your body

It does not lie

Love Mo

Dear fellow warrior,

You should not compare your life - your story - your illness - your journey to others

But I’ve recognized that we do it automatically- especially with our nearest surroundings- our friends

And it’s not that you are not happy for them - it’s the guilt you feel about yourself ..

you blame yourself because of an illness - THAT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!! (Read it again)

“Why can’t I have a normal life like this? Why do I have to cancel a plan again? Why I’m still stuck with this while others do this and that??!
Why do I need to get through the same shit with my illness over and over again??!!.”. etc

STOP THIS SELF TORTURE!!!!
YOU ARE FIGHTING EVERY FUCKING DAY A FUCKING MILLION FIGHTS!!! YOU CAN BE SO PROUD OF YOURSELF!!!

Fuck what others do!! Other people are not better than you - they are not the standard to follow!!! They have their life and you have yours!

You are doing the best you can - and you will accomplish all your dreams step by step in your own tempo- no matter how often you need to try - no matter how long it will take - and no matter what other people say!!!

Please don’t get stuck into comparing - I know it’s not easy and I know how frustrating a life with chronic illnesses can be … and yes It’s absolutely ok to feel sad and frustrated sometimes - but please don’t get stuck into this comparing thing -

I bet there were so many moments you wanted to quit - but you didn’t- please don’t forget to appreciate all the progress you have already made - you did everything you could under the given circumstances, YOU DID ENOUGH - and we should never ever compare our life to others .. we Are beyond! And we got this in our special way and tempo!

It happened on an ordinary day

Just a Monday

Or a Tuesday

Or any other day

The world kept moving

But yours changed forever

A diagnosis has a way of changing everything

Like the ground disappeared beneath your feet

Like life suddenly split into a before and an after

The truth is that illness does not wait for the right moment

It can become part of anyone’s story

At any time

That is something people often forget

Over time it humbles you

It reminds you that none of us are untouchable

It changes what truly matters

You learn to listen to your body

To protect your peace

To stop taking ordinary days for granted

If you were just diagnosed

I know this may feel unreal

You are not alone

Life will be different

But different does not mean over

One step at a time

We got this

“With this reel I want to show that decisions that could harm my health have become serious decisions for me because I am the one who has to live with the consequences

That does not mean I never push past my limits

But personally I have realized that living with a chronic illness also means having a responsibility toward myself

I can spend one day being very social and doing a lot

And the next day I might deal with the consequences and need to rest

I cannot go full speed every single day and expect my body to keep up with everything

And no that does not mean I do not have fun anymore

No it also does not mean I am not fun anymore

It simply means that I personally realized how important it is to stand up for myself

For my body

For my health

And to make conscious decisions

This is a small reminder for all of you

Take care of your bodies

Listen to your body

Yes I understand sometimes we all push past our limits

But to everyone who says we are not fun anymore

No that is not true

What is not fun is having to live with the consequences later

Chronic illness changes the way you see energy

You slowly realize that constantly being available-
constantly giving-
constantly pushing yourself beyond your limits
comes with a price

And at some point, you have to start choosing yourself too

Not out of selfishness

Not because you stopped caring

But because your body teaches you that energy is valuable

Healing is not only about medication or appointments

Sometimes it’s also learning that not everyone deserves unlimited access to you
your time
your energy
or your nervous system

You start becoming more intentional.
More protective of your peace

More aware of what drains you and what truly supports you

And honestly -
that’s part of healing too

It can happen to anyone

Anyone can become sick

Being healthy is not a guarantee

And I would have never thought that I would become ill

It never crossed my mind that one day I would have to fight and live with a chronic illness or even two

It is a privilege to be healthy

It is a task that involves so many obligations and sacrifices when you are chronically ill

Because you realize that the illness forces you to refrain from doing things that harm you

And to do things that are good for you but are difficult to implement to assert and to carry through

And what I actually want to say is that it is a privilege to be healthy

And when someone says I do not even know how I would react if I became ill

Yes but you cannot choose that

Illness is not a choice

Illness is not something you somehow choose

It happens

And yes there are certainly circumstances that may highlight a risk for example when you do things that harm you

But fundamentally you do not decide about illness

The illness develops

The illness happens

And with that I simply want to remind and show that being ill is not a choice

The way we live however is the choice we make even when we are chronically ill

And yes I know it is not easy

And I see you

And I know what you have to go through

And how much pain and sacrifice it is often connected with

And how often you encounter avoidance and others who always want to lecture you

It can happen to anyone

If you understand this, you’ve been fighting battles nobody else can see

A life with a chronic illness

You know what it feels like to look fine on the outside
and feel completely drained on the inside

You’ve learned to function even when your body is working different

even when every small task takes more than it should

You cancel plans you actually wanted to go to
and then sit with the guilt of it

You’ve heard “but you look so healthy” more times than you can count

and stopped explaining at some point

You measure your days in energy, not time
and even that can change without warning

You push through when you shouldn’t
and rest when you feel like you haven’t earned it

And somehow
you still keep going

Even on the days no one sees

I see you

You are not alone

Yes it’s true when we say having a chronic illness is a freaking full-time job

Going through it daily is something that takes so much from us

But this isn’t enough

Over the years with more than one illness I’ve learned that I have to educate myself about what’s happening with my body

I’ve learned that even doctors could help us in the end we have to decide about therapies about everything else that we need to go through

And knowledge is power and especially true when it comes to managing life with an illness

But I know for sure it’s hard and you can easily fall into a deep hole

Please be careful I know for sure you like to understand everything but don’t fall into observing every detail

Remember that you don’t have to know everything at once

Take your time, focus on the most relevant information for your situation, and remember that it’s okay to ask for help when you need it

Sending you lots of strength - I know it isn’t easy!

I can imagine that after something life-changing like a diagnosis, many people suddenly feel like a failure.

Like it feels like a personal failure.

Especially if you were always independent before, and suddenly that independence collapses.

It can feel like you’ve truly failed.

But you didn’t choose this.

You didn’t choose to be this sick or to need help.

And that’s okay.

It’s okay — but it’s incredibly hard, and I understand that.

I’m someone who would always rather do everything alone than ask others for help.

And this situation forced me to turn to the people I love and trust and ask them for help.

I’m incredibly grateful for the family I have who supports me.

And for the friends who are there for me.

But I know that not everyone has that.

And I know that this is a huge privilege.

I just want you to remember: this is not failure.

It’s okay to ask for help.

It’s actually strong to ask for help.

And I don’t want you to see yourself as a mistake.

Because you’re not.

You are unbelievably strong for what you go through every single day.

I can imagine that many of us have spent a long time being there for others.

Crossing over our own boundaries, ignoring our bodies, and trying to fulfill expectations.

Always looking outward, making sure everyone else is okay.

And then we got sick.

And then it’s you - who needs that attention

And suddenly, you’re forced to stop and ask yourself: what do I actually need right now?

It’s no longer just about others — it’s about you.

You start paying attention to your body, your symptoms, your limits.

And if you were used to always taking care of everyone else, this shift can feel strange.

But I’ve learned — and I’m still learning — that your body will always force honesty.

You are not responsible for pleasing others while your body is trying to survive in a sick body.

You are responsible for listening, even when it feels unfamiliar.

And for choosing yourself, even when it feels uncomfortable.

Chronic illness isn’t rare — people just get really good at hiding it.

Illness is not considered a normal state in our society.

It’s something that isn’t supposed to exist.

And yes, of course — we all want to be healthy.

But that’s not the reality we’re living in.

It doesn’t reflect the world we actually exist in.

Illness is still a taboo topic.

At the same time, we’re trying to function in a society that demands constant performance.

So we push ourselves to keep up with our jobs while being sick.

We try to fit into a system that was never built for chronically ill people.

A system where we simply cannot keep up.

So we push past our physical limits.

We ignore what our bodies are telling us.

We grab something quick to eat because there’s no time to properly take care of ourselves.

We stop doing the things our bodies are desperately asking for.

And over time, we become experts at hiding it all.

At masking.

At pretending.

It starts to feel like living a double life.

On one side, we participate in what looks like a normal life.

On the other side, we are chronically ill.
