RISE & GRIND, Beloveds

We are never too busy to make time for our loved ones, and we should always make sure they know how much we love them. I realize that at times I can get caught up in my own world, and this year, I’m really focusing on not being that way. We never know when it might be too late.

At the same time, if a loved one does pass, remember that they knew you loved them. It’s important not to internalize guilt around their passing—they would want you to live in happiness and peace.

I encourage you today to take a moment to tell someone you love them. Let these three simple wordsā€”ā€œI love youā€ā€”work their magic.

Because in the end, ā€œI love youā€ isn’t just something we say—it’s something we live.

Always remember, love is the meal; everything else is the gravy.

Live full… Die empty.

Be Bold. Be Beautiful. Be Brilliant.

Live your life. Leave your legacy.

@mstoddart68 says it's not the text or the like. It's the call. The visit. The face in front of you.

"When's the last time we called somebody to check in and say, I love you?"

Cut from the team, then a national champion. Turned away by art school, then thirty years of making history through art. And a message for every West Indian parent: let your child be delusional. The world needs what they're carrying.

RISE & GRIND, Beloveds

How do I define love?

For me, LOVE is spelled TIME.

T — Thoughtful.
I — Intentional.
M — Moments.
E — Empathy.

Because love isn’t simply something we say or something we feel. Love is what we choose to do with our time.

When I give you my time, I’m giving you a piece of my life—something I can never get back. So I want that time to be thoughtful. I want my intentions to be meaningful. I want the moments we share to matter. And I want empathy to remind me that your experience may be different from mine.

To me, that’s love.

And maybe that’s why I’m so conscious about making my MARK. The older I get, the more I understand that my life is really a collection of moments—and the question becomes: What am I doing with the time I’ve been given, and what am I leaving behind in the lives of others?

Love, to me, is being intentional with that time.

LOVE = TIME.

Be Bold. Be Beautiful. Be Brilliant.

Live your life. Leave your legacy.

ROOTED IN LOVE.

Life is a journey of many roots. We may walk different paths, but many of us are searching for the same destination: truth, peace, freedom, balance, love, and higher consciousness.

Some find their path through faith. Others through culture, music, meditation, nature, healing, or spirituality.

Babylon will try to divide us by race, class, religion, and status. But beneath those divisions, humanity is searching for freedom, purpose, connection, and love.

So let’s judge less and understand more.

Different roots can still lead to the same light.

That’s what ROOTED IN LOVE means to me.

Wear it with pride. Let it remind you of who you are, where you come from, and what you carry forward.

Live It. Wear It. With purpose. — LIWI68, you don’t just wear the message. You feel it in your soul.

And remember: you don’t always need outside validation to begin. Look around you. Your community may already hold the resources, knowledge, creativity, and love you need to take the first step.

What keeps you rooted when life tries to shake you?

This isn’t about politics.
It’s about humanity.

Different roots. One light.

History is not there for you to like or dislike. It is there for you to learn from. And if it offends you, perhaps that is even more reason to confront it because understanding history makes us less likely to repeat it.

It is not yours to erase. It belongs to all of us.

The design Strange Fruit is inspired by Billie Holiday and the power of the protest song. The imagery on the T-shirt can serve as a starting point for uncomfortable conversations,an invitation to research the history, meaning, and heavy content behind the song’s lyrics, and to examine and discuss them with greater maturity, thoughtfulness, and understanding within a safe space.

Much of the music, art, comedy, and literature created by Black artists comes from the heart and soul. There is nothing evil about our stories. Our truths have worth, regardless of who they may offend.

For centuries, our messengers have been threatened, silenced, and killed, but the MESSAGE is immortal. We will not be silenced or controlled. We have a responsibility to release our messages into the world for the sake of generations to come.

We are all responsible for ensuring that our history is never forgotten …even when those in power attempt to exploit, distort, or erase it.

History must be remembered. Truth must be told. by @mstoddart68

RISE & GRIND, BELOVEDS! āœŠšŸæšŸ–¤

You can’t spell COMMUNITY without UNITY.

Every time I step out into my Scarborough community, I learn something new. I experience the warmth, love, support, and strength that comes when people come together.

Unity isn’t sameness.
It’s choosing each other.
Walking together.
Showing up for one another.
And building something bigger than ourselves.

In a culture that can often reward noise and division, unity is an intentional choice—to lead with respect, accountability, empathy, and genuine care.

That’s how REAL COMMUNITY grows.

And I must say…
there’s something beautiful about witnessing the Scarborough community coming together.

COMMUNITY = UNITY.
Together, we make our MARK. āœŠšŸæšŸ–¤āœŠšŸæ

Just wrapped a conversation with artist, educator and graphic designer MarkStoddart for Let's Talk, and I'm still smiling.

Stories from Scarborough to Oakville. The Third World Bookstore. Thirty years of art honouring Black athletes, entertainers and history makers. And a beautiful thread through it all: empowerment and allyship, lived out loud.

Episode drops next week. You'll want to sit with this one.

GOD doesn’t always give you the people YOU want; He gives you the people YOU NEED. šŸ™šŸ¾

This weekend I had the blessing of spending time with my beloved sister, Deidra Roper, aka @djspinderella . šŸ–¤

40 YEARS in the Hip-Hop game—and STILL SPINNING! šŸŽ§šŸ”„

Watching you continue to share your gift, bring people together, headline shows, and inspire generations reminded me of something important:

Never take the journey—or the people God places along the way—for granted.

Some friendships are blessings. Some are lessons. Some strengthen your faith, sharpen your character, and remind you who you are.

My sister, keep believing in your gift. Keep praying. Keep building. Keep pursuing your happiness.

God has already written the book. Our job is to trust the Author, control what we can control, and keep turning the pages.

What’s meant for you will find you.

40 years later… STILL SPINNING. šŸŽ§šŸ–¤

Keep making history.
Keep making your MARK.

Live your life. Leave your legacy. Make your MARK. āœŠšŸ¾ by @mstoddart68

ā€œProcrastination is the abortion clinic of ideas.ā€ - @19_keys

Procrastination is one of the most effective and consistent thieves of untapped potential. Because of it, millions of brilliant concepts never become reality. Thousands of VISIONARIES are never born. Countless stories are never brought to life....

Take whatever you’re procrastinating on and do it right now. Get into the habit of using your awareness of procrastination as a trigger to take action. When you make it a habit, you are no longer a slave to procrastination. Always remember: procrastination breeds doubt, fear, and regret, but more importantly, it inevitably breeds ā€œI wish I hadā€.

No risk, no rewards. by @mstoddart68

RISE & GRIND, Beloveds.

ā€œThe stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.ā€

Rejection can hurt. It can make us question our worth, our purpose, and whether we belong. But rejection doesn’t have to be the end of your story.

Sometimes, the very people others overlook become the ones who build something extraordinary.

Never judge someone solely by where they are today. Circumstances change. Seasons change. God has a way of turning rejection into redemption and positioning the overlooked in places of purpose.

So lead with respect.
Lead with dignity.
Lead with humility.

Not because you may need someone someday, but because every person has value—even when you can’t yet see their purpose.

And if you’ve ever been rejected, overlooked, or counted out, remember:

Your rejection does not define you. Your response does.

Keep building.
Keep believing.
Keep becoming.

Still standing. Still fighting.

Be Bold. Be Beautiful. Be Brilliant.

Live your life. Leave your legacy.

RISE & GRIND, Beloveds.

ā€œThe monster that kills most people doesn’t chase you away it offers you a chair.ā€

Think about that.

Sometimes what holds us back isn’t failure it’s comfort. Procrastination, fear, complacency, bad habits, and settling can quietly convince us to stop moving forward.

Your comfort zone can become a prison disguised as peace.

Every day we delay, another idea remains unwritten, another vision remains unseen, another story remains untold, and another dream goes unfulfilled.

Nothing grows in the comfort zone.

Growth requires discomfort.
Faith requires courage.
Purpose requires movement.

So get out of the chair.

Stop settling for what’s comfortable and start stepping toward who you’re called to become.

Be Bold. Be Beautiful. Be Brilliant.

Live your life. Leave your legacy.
