💪🏽 The Good Neighbor Crew got after it today!

Our off-site crew didn’t have as many members as we usually do, but that didn’t stop them from putting in a solid day of hard work. 💯

Today, the crew helped a family who was moving out get their yard cleaned up and ready for their move-out inspection. Another job completed and another opportunity for our crew to gain experience, build skills, and serve their community. 👏🏽

I’m proud of this team and how far we’ve come. What started as an idea has grown into something bigger, and this is just the beginning.

Keep showing up, keep working hard, and keep moving forward. 💪🏽

💪 GOOD NEIGHBOR CREW — ALWAYS READY TO WORK! 💪

Over the past few weeks, this crew has been busy! From haul-offs and pressure washing to lawn care, painting, and event setup, they’ve continued to show up, work hard, and get the job done. 👏

But what makes us most proud isn’t just the work they’re doing — it’s the attitude they bring with them.

Whether they’re out serving our community or taking care of things right here at the shelter, they’re always ready to go. They show up with a great attitude, they encourage one another, and somehow they always find a way to have a little fun along the way. 😄

These men and women are facing the challenges that come with homelessness, but they are not allowing their circumstances to define who they are or what they’re capable of.

They are learning.
They are working.
They are building confidence.
They are serving others.
And most importantly, they are moving forward. 🙏🏼

We are incredibly proud of this crew and grateful for every person and organization that gives them an opportunity to work, learn, and prove what they can do.

This is what the Good Neighbor Crew is all about — turning opportunities into experience, experience into confidence, and confidence into a better future.

Another step forward for the Good Neighbor Crew! 🖌️💪

Yesterday, our crew stepped outside of our usual work and took on a kitchen painting project for a community member who trusted us with her home.

What makes this special isn’t just the work we completed—it’s the opportunity. Our clients are learning new skills, gaining real hands-on experience, building confidence, and learning what it means to show up and serve their community.

A huge thank you to the homeowner for trusting us, opening her doors to our crew, and showing patience and understanding as they learn. Your trust gives our clients a chance to prove themselves and grow.

We’re not just painting walls. We’re building skills, confidence, character, and a better future—one job at a time.

A few weeks ago, the Good Neighbor Crew started an exciting partnership with Kern Family Health Care, and this partnership is already making a difference in our community! ❤️

Last weekend, we teamed up with Kern Family Health Care and their Mobile Laundry Unit to bring free laundry services directly to community members who needed a helping hand.

This is just the beginning. We’re looking forward to growing this partnership and taking the Mobile Laundry Unit into different areas of our community—especially neighborhoods and areas where people may have limited access to laundry services.

The Good Neighbor Crew is proud to be part of something bigger: serving our community, building partnerships, and helping our neighbors one load of laundry at a time. 🧺❤️

For many, these are just photos and videos of people working.

For us, they represent hope, second chances, and lives being rebuilt.

The Good Neighbor Crew is made up of individuals who have chosen to take the next step toward a better future. Every bag of trash picked up, every donation delivered, every neighborhood cleaned, and every helping hand extended is proof that people can overcome difficult circumstances when they’re given an opportunity and someone believes in them.

Over the past several months, this team has worked throughout Bakersfield serving our community with pride. They’ve helped move clients into housing, delivered donated supplies, cleaned streets and neighborhoods, supported community events, and shown that homelessness does not define a person’s potential.

None of this would be possible without the support of our incredible community partners, the dedicated staff at the M Street Navigation Center, and the Kern County Board of Supervisors, whose belief in this program has helped create opportunities that are truly changing lives.

To every member of the Good Neighbor Crew: thank you for showing up, working hard, supporting one another, and proving every day that growth is possible. You are making a difference—not only in our community, but in the lives of everyone who witnesses your commitment.

A huge thank you to Kern Family Health Care for spending the day with us at M Street Navigation Center!

On Saturday they fired up the grill and served our clients delicious burgers hot off the grill. More importantly, they stayed after lunch to provide one-on-one assistance with Medi-Cal renewals, answer questions about medical coverage, and help clients better understand the services available through Kern Family Health Care.

A special thank you to our incredible M Street staff and the Good Neighbor Crew for all of your hard work behind the scenes. Your teamwork, dedication, and willingness to serve helped make yesterday’s lunch a great success. It truly takes everyone working together to create opportunities like this for our clients.

We are grateful for the partnership with Kern Family Health Care and proud of our team for continuing to make a positive impact in our community. Thank you all for making a difference! 🍔❤️🤝

The Good Neighbor Crew was hard at work today helping prepare for the next food distribution with the CAPK Cal AIM Program!

Another successful food distribution made possible by the power of community! 🙌🏻🍊🍎

This month, with the help of nearly 26 amazing volunteers, we were able to distribute 12,620 pounds of food to 288 families in our community. Thanks to their dedication, time, effort, kindness and compassion, hundreds of families received access to nutritious food and support. This makes a meaningful difference in the lives of so many around the community.🫶🏻

We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to @capkfoodbank for supplying the food that makes these distributions possible, and to @mstreetnavigationcenter for assisting with cleanup after the event. Your support and partnership help us continue serving families in need.

🐾 A big thank you to our M Street clients for helping bag dog food for our friends at Kern County Animal Services!

This pre-bagged food will help animal service officers as they respond to calls throughout the community and care for animals in need. We are proud of our clients for stepping up and giving back to the community through this act of service.

Opportunities like these show that our clients are more than their circumstances—they are neighbors, volunteers, and community members making a difference. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped support both the animals and the officers who care for them every day.

Good Neighbor Crew did it again!

Today we went back to our roots and did what started this whole program—good old-fashioned neighborhood cleanup.

We found an area at Gage and Niles in East Bakersfield that was covered in litter, trash, food waste, and other debris. While our lawn equipment is out for a few days getting serviced by our friends at Candie’s Lawn Service, we didn’t want to sit around and wait. Instead, we looked for another way to give back to the community.

The crew stepped up, grabbed the cleanup tools, and got to work. It took two full trips to haul everything away, but we got the job done and left the area looking much better than we found it.

I’m proud of this crew. No matter what resources we have available, they continue to show up, work hard, and take pride in making our community cleaner and safer. That’s what the Good Neighbor Crew is all about.

Thank you to Candie’s Lawn Service for helping keep our equipment running strong, and thank you to everyone who continues to support our mission of creating opportunities, building skills, and giving back to our community.
