Late post, honoured to have my portrait of my dear mate, Sue Dean aka Little Sue, one of Manchester’s OGs, from my ongoing series called “Beekeeping with Roses”, selected for Salon/25 at London’s legendary Photofusion gallery•Sue has lived a life. From learning to shoot photographs as a kid traveling wither her minister father across the Iron Curtain to being childhood mates with The Stone Roses documenting their early rise as well as New Order, The Smiths, The Fall and many more…•As a single mother, Sue had to make the tough decision to let go of her music life to find a career more stable to raise her daughter. Long term illnesses and mental health bouts begin to impact her tough, self-reliant Manc identity becoming more dependent requiring assistance in her activities•Sue’s healthcare providers suggested to try out beekeeping as a form of therapy. Immediately she found the activity to be quite healing and a new found purpose, which mirrored her previous life in documenting the young Mancunian bees on stage with her camera to now joining the micro fight in climate change by preserving Manchester’s environment•Collaborator: @suedean1202 Gallery: @photofusionuk •#documentary#ethnography#manchester#thestoneroses#climatechange by @mstrobat

In Indonesia, ‘Selamatan” is a communal feast celebrating a special occasion by giving thanks to everyone involved. Traditionally, farmers on the island of Java organized a ‘Selamatan’ with various rituals and offerings as a symbol of gratitude and to pay respects to Dewi Sri, the Javanese fertility goddess, for a bountiful harvest. Today, the celebration is highlighted by a cone-shaped rice meal with meat and vegetable dishes called Nasi Tumpeng. •Batara Indra Soepraba, a seasoned MUD volunteer known as Mister Obat, will lead this year’s Mabon Harvest Festival dinner to share gratitude for a bountiful harvest. Obat’s experience in the kitchen began in Los Angeles with their late mother, a respected culinary figure in the LA Indonesian community. Since then, he has cooked in cafes in the San Francisco Bay Area and Manchester. While Obat assisted Sariwa Kitchen Founder and Bon Appetit Healthyish Honoree Chef Aileen Suzara at community events in the San Francisco Bay Area, Obat learned the importance of incorporating storytelling and memory with food, which they hope to share and add a little twist to this year’s Selamatan celebration dinner.•Tickets can be purchased in our bio link•#manchester#supperclub#popupdinner#indonesia#harvestfestival by @mstrobat
