For six months, I’ve juggled and struggled to maintain my commitment as a student in my MA program and a mentee in the Pannafoto Future Talents 2021 program. I’m happy that after the sleepless nights, 6ams on the weekends after a night out with my cohort and frustrations with technical mishaps, it was all worth it. I finally completed my final project, my response on thr theme of RELATION called “Where is Home”. It was a privilege and honor to work with reknowned photographer and judge, Yoppy Pieter, as well as learn from other mentees from all walks of lifes, respectable not only in the photographic community but in other industries as well. Thank you @pannafoto for this opportunity and looking ahead how to capitalize on this experience.

Movement is an experience shared by all humans. We are pulled by the urge to survive or make our current standing better by migration. In my visual essay, Where Is Home, I explore that idea of “home” through my experience of moving and settling in different countries – USA, Indonesia and the United Kingdom. During the pandemic, I reflected on what is important in my life and often contemplated the meaning of a “home”. This past September, I followed that universal impulse to move for my postgraduate studies.
•
The project is presented as a mixed-media piece, combining video, photography, soundscape and narration. By adding layers of mediums, the output creates a sensorial experience for the audience to be immersed into a nostalgic trip on their own personal journey of their home/s.
