Expressions of Interest are open for artwork celebrating Mi'kmaq basketry traditions and a Wabanaki ornamental doorway at the R.P. Bell Library: Centre for Innovation and Learning. These concepts were developed in collaboration and with the guidance of an Indigenous Talking Circle consisting of Elders, representatives from various Indigenous communities, Indigenous students, Indigenous faculty, and guided by the Indigenous architectural firm Two Row Architect. As a place dedicated to learning, research, creativity, and collaboration, the Library provides an ideal setting for permanent artwork that reflects the University's commitment to reconciliation, Indigenous knowledge, and respectful relationships. The deadline for submissions is October 7, 2026, at 4 p.m. (ADT). Read the full story at mta.ca/news by @mta_libraries

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we remember the children who never returned home from residential schools, and honour the survivors, their families, and communities. In recognition of this day, we joined the campus community for the raising of the Every Child Matters flag outside the Owens Art Gallery. by @mta_libraries

HAPPY HOMECOMING, MOUNTIES! 🏈🙌   In celebration, Mount Allison Libraries & Archives is launching a collection of past Football Programmes, now available in our Novanet interface and linked in our bio. At a glance, you can see each year’s Homecoming Programme to relive your favourite Mounties memories!   The collection is searchable by keywords - look up by year or using opponents’ team names like STFX. Remember to use Boolean “OR” to find all the results - back in 1961 we wrote St. F. X. and in 1974 simply SFX.   Once you click into a programme, you can do a keyword search to find specific words or names. How many players named “Scott” participated in the Vanier Cup XXVII? You can see all three Scotts attending the ‘91 Vanier Cup Football Alumni Reunion: Scott Anderson ‘92, Scott Ellison ‘92, and Scott O’Neil ‘94.   There is even a page-by-page view so you can scroll through the programmes like they are in your hands! Check these programmes out at the link in our bio before the big game this weekend! #mountallison #mounties #football #mta by @mta_libraries

Picture the next chapter with us. 📚 Major construction at the R.P. Bell Library is scheduled to begin in April 2027, marking the largest renovation project in the University's history. The distinctive octagonal exterior will remain, while the interior will be renovated into a reimagined space for learning, teaching, and academic support, designed for the many ways students study and learn. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project, including the move of the main print collection and full suite of library services to the Interim Library. Learn more at mta.ca/RPBCIL. Please note that the concept renderings represent the initial vision and may not reflect final finishes, furnishings, or colours. by @mta_libraries
