Picture the next chapter with us. 📚 Major construction at the R.P. Bell Library is scheduled to begin in April 2027, marking the largest renovation project in the University's history. The distinctive octagonal exterior will remain, while the interior will be renovated into a reimagined space for learning, teaching, and academic support, designed for the many ways students study and learn. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project, including the move of the main print collection and full suite of library services to the Interim Library. Learn more at mta.ca/RPBCIL. Please note that the concept renderings represent the initial vision and may not reflect final finishes, furnishings, or colours.

Watch the Scott McCain and Leslie McLean Centre for Health and Wellness take shape over the past year — with still more to come! Construction is progressing, with concrete pours for the major slab area underway this week, along with work continuing inside and on the exterior of the building. Once complete, this space will have an important role on campus: serving as the Interim Library while the R.P. Bell Library undergoes its major renovation, scheduled to begin in April 2027. The Interim Library will keep library services and collections on campus for students, faculty, and staff throughout the construction period. It will be exciting to see this space come together — and more details about the Interim Library and its future use will be shared as the R.P. Bell Library renovation approaches. 📚🏗️

New Jersey. Same Legacy. Inspired by the colours and pride of the Mount Allison Rugby Club teams that took the field in 1909, our 2026 kit to all those who have played for the club, since the inception in 1890. This project would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors. We are proud to recognize and thank them for their commitment to Mount Allison Rugby. The RP Bell Library is being extensively renovated soon and in the meantime, @mta_libraries has opened up the stairwell for graffiti. The #MtAReunion folks got first dibs on space. Some messages are heartwarming, some encouraging and others are just very @mountallison.

When @mta.alumni / @mountallison items come up for sale, I quickly purchase them online. I’ve got my vintage hockey jersey ready for #MtAReunion this year and my beanie is packed! That said, this little pin from the Alpha Beta Society arrived this morning from California. How it ended up there from #Sackville I have no idea. The Society was founded in 1893 in direct response to the Eurhetorian Society and the Eclectic Society excluding women. The broad intent was to teach women undergraduates “to manage business affairs, to conduct meetings, whether religious, social, or literary, and acquire ease in appearing before the public—accomplishment of which no education woman of to-day can afford to be ignorant.” The lovely @reneecbelliveau wrote a great piece on the legacy of women at MtA over at @moments_canada which has informed the above. You should check it out! Needless to say I will be wearing this gem proudly.
