If you know me well, you’ve heard me make a point about doing work I’m proud to put my name to. It’s why I spend so much time with @allflaorg, why I’ve spent days on skiffs and airboats and horses with guides and biologists and ranchers, why I’m so grateful for these opportunities to point a camera and be a small change in the places I love around this state.

Somehow, a morning on the outskirts of the Everglades with @duckranchin guiding a @deltawaterfowl University Hunt with @drdisturbance’s crew from UF led to me sitting among a brood of Osceola turkey poults being raised by the @ufgamelab.

It’s been an incredible privilege to hold a camera and watch a wild turkey’s first moments of life outside the shell, to walk among them while they learn to forage, to sit with them as they dust and doze in the afternoon heat. Documenting these things to help the whole UF Game Lab crew tell the story is exactly what I mean when I describe work I can be proud of. taken in University of Florida by @mtm_photo

Checking in from West Point, MS.

The last nine months have been a whirlwind full of changes, eased by the simple fact that I still get to call this camera stuff “work.” Lots of time spent with old friends and instant old friends alike, thousands of dashboard miles, as many good sunrises and sunsets as a man could hope for, and no shortage of adventure ahead. Grateful is an understatement.

Westbound for white tips a couple thousand miles from home. What a privilege it was to venture over the Mississippi River during the greatest season of the year for the first time.
I returned home low on energy and cash, but filled to the brim on memories and gratitude for great friends and gobbling wild turkeys. by @mtm_photo
