We’re seeing some rime ice up top, but the Mt. Washington Auto Road is still open to winter cutoff for a wonderful ride through the foliage! Welcome, winter! ❄️ The first snowflakes of the season fell overnight on Mt Washington. We’re open today for cars up to 4,200 feet, winter cutoff. Come see the first signs of winter for yourself!

🍂 We’re extending our hours! Some of the best fall foliage we’ve seen in the past few years is happening right now, so we’re staying open a bit later in the day for you to enjoy it.

When I was over in Glen last month, I stumbled upon the Douglas A. Philbrook Red Barn Museum at the Mt. Washington Auto Road Base Lodge. The Auto Road was built in 1861 as a carriage road (the first man-made tourist attraction in America!) and the museum collection is housed in the last standing barn from that era.
