Next stop: STATE! 👑✨

Congratulations to Jenna on winning first place at her local pageant yesterday! I had the pleasure of doing her hair and makeup for this exciting day.

Jenna’s platform is deeply personal. After she and her family lost their home to a fire at the beginning of this year, she’s working to share fire safety information and help other families be better prepared.

What a fun day backstage at Salon Service Group’s Groupie Gathering! ✨

I had the opportunity to do makeup for the Keune team, who spent yesterday prepping the models before bringing everything together for today’s show. There is always so much work happening behind the scenes, and I loved getting to be part of the energy and creativity of show day!

It was such a pleasure working alongside Gracie Carver and Aliya Harris—and with our beautiful models Riley, Taylor, Mila, and Sophia. Thank you for having me! 💄

Tomorrow is the LAST DAY to register for The Dwelling Place Annual Gala—and I would love to see this room filled with people who believe women and children deserve to live without fear. 💛

Domestic abuse is not rare or simply someone else’s problem. According to the CDC, more than 1 in 3 women in the United States have experienced sexual violence, physical violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner.

Here in Minnesota, The Dwelling Place received 427 calls for help involving more than 388 children in 2024. That same year, it provided 12,531 nights of safety to 59 women and children.

Those numbers represent real mothers trying to protect their children and real families working to rebuild their lives.

I am profoundly grateful that I have never had to navigate life with an abusive spouse—and that my children have never had to experience that fear. But that gratitude also reminds me not to look away from families who are living through it.

Last year, I volunteered during a special photo-shoot day at The Dwelling Place, providing makeup touch-ups for moms before their professional headshots. Afterward, the photographers captured beautiful pictures of the mothers with their children.

Photography preserves the people we love and the memories we carry forever. Not every family has beautiful photographs together, and I know those images will mean so much to those children in the years ahead.

The Dwelling Place provides women and children with safe transitional housing, healing support and practical tools to build a different future. A full room at this gala tells survivors that they are seen, believed and supported—and that their children’s safety matters.

What a gift she was—brilliant, glamorous, hilarious, generous and completely one of a kind. The world feels a little less sparkly today.

Some of the work I’m proudest of is work I can’t show you—at least, not yet.

Over the past few weeks, my work has taken me throughout Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. I’ve worked with farmers, executives, professional talent, and talent specifically chosen to connect with Spanish-speaking communities.

Some projects are filmed in English. Some are created in Spanish. Others don’t use spoken language at all—the entire story is told through photography, movement, music, and words added later.

That’s the part of commercial hair, makeup, and grooming that many people never see.

The work may become a company’s internal training video, an advertising campaign, a website, a social media post, product photography, or something shown only to a very specific audience. Sometimes I’m working months before the finished project is released. Sometimes confidentiality agreements mean I may never be able to share it at all.

So, yes—I’m working, even when my social media doesn’t show everything I’m doing.

I’m incredibly grateful for the companies, production teams, clients, and talented agents who continue to trust me. Their support allows me to help provide for my family while still being the very present, full-time mother I want to be.

After more than 20 years in this industry, I know what I bring to a set: experience, adaptability, professionalism, and the ability to make people feel comfortable and camera-ready—whether they spend every day in front of a camera or have never stood in front of one before.

I may not always be able to show you the work.

One of the unexpected perks of my job is getting to meet people you’ve watched on screen for years… and today was one of those days.

Today I had the opportunity to help get Steve Lemme, Erik Stolhanske, and Paul Soter camera-ready while they were in the Twin Cities promoting @supertroopers 3, which hits theaters on August 7.

If you’re a fan of Super Troopers or @tacomafdtrutv , you know exactly who I’m talking about! They were on @jasonshowtv this morning and will also be appearing on @twincitieslive later today.

I also had the chance to meet Marisa Coughlan, which was a fun surprise. For a split second I thought I recognized her from the local fashion community… then it clicked where I actually knew her from. 😂

I only spent a few minutes with everyone, but they were genuinely kind, welcoming, and a pleasure to work with. They graciously took a few photos with me afterward, and when I mentioned my husband, Bob, and our friend Max with the Bloomington Fire Department, they asked me to pass along a hello. Such a small gesture, but one I really appreciated.

One of my favorite parts of working behind the scenes in television and film is getting to meet talented people from all walks of life. It’s always refreshing when the people you’ve enjoyed watching for years turn out to be just as kind off camera as they are on screen.
