Photo from 2010 illustrates that not only have things remained the same, they've actually gotten worse in 2025. Today's date is September 11th. Unbelievable. Organize and mobilize ✊🏾 Photo by Mona Vee photography. #muchoarchives #muchowednesdays by @mucho_music
Original MUCHO artwork by Ricky Garay This is a firme piece of Latin Indie L.A. music history. Sadly still feels fitting 14 years later. No one is free, until we are all free. Mucho always produced some mega line ups for our shows, Garay created this artwork specifically for this special triple bill at the Echoplex in honor of Mexican Independence day back in 2011. The event featured Las Cafeteras, La Chamba, and Chicano Son, with DJ support by the Mucho Djs, Frank Leopold, Lu Lu and Ricky Guapo. We dusted off this beauty because a few of the musicians from the show wanted posters for their collections, so here they are. We are going to be sharing a lot more artwork in the coming weeks, and we will be making archival quality large poster prints available for anyone who is interested. Any artists that performed at any of these shows qualify for a serious artist discount if they would like a copy for themselves. La Musica y la Arte es Cultura, Mucho wasn't just a party, it was a movement, and we've got the photos, film, and art to show for it. by @mucho_music
We are incredibly proud to announce that Cumbia Fever’s very own Ricky “DJ Guapo” Garay has been asked to join the global radio show, “Canto Tropical” as one of its three hosts, on KPFK 90.7FM. He will be joining radio legends Kathy “La Rhumbera Díaz & Hector “La Voz” Resendez as one of the rotating hosts, making his solo debut on Saturday August 30th, 2025. Canto Tropical is a bilingual program that bridges cultures, generations and borders. It presents and promotes the world of Afro-Cuban music. An important cultural Los Angeles institution, broadcasting from right here in our city to all over the world for over 30 years. “I am incredibly excited to join my esteemed co hosts, Hector and Kathy, as a member of the Canto Tropical family. Being invited to share my own personal musical journey is a deeply humbling, satisfying and slightly daunting feeling. All of the hosts of Canto Tropical have contributed immensely to the cultural, musical fabric of our community, my hope is to carry on that legacy. I am looking forward to inviting some of my favorite artists onto the show for some interviews, going further and taking some deeper dives into the Afro Latino musical experience While Canto Tropical is renowned for its place in the Salsa and Afro Cuban history, part of what I will be adding to the mix is my deep love of another Afro Latin genre, Cumbia. For the past eight years, producing Cumbia Fever, (our formerly weekly all Cumbia dance party) provided me an incredible education into the world of Cumbia music. I could not think of a better opportunity to share that knowledge than as a host on Canto Tropical. Please wish me luck and please tune in while you are getting ready to go out dancing on a Saturday night.” Ricky Garay TUNE IN: CANTO TROPICAL Saturdays 8PM-10PM KPFK 90.7 FM Check our calendar for weekly line ups. by @mucho_music

Many of our longtime friends know us from our #LatinIndie / live music era with our @MuchoWednesdays parties/ events. #FLASHBACK @vanessazamora just had a fantastic show weeks back at the Roxy on the Sunset strip. We knew w had this some where and yes! We still have stickers from her first SoCal tour that we helped piece together with the help of @muchosd Fond, fond memories of those legendary nights. FOOF, que buena musica chingao!! Yay for Vanessa for following her dreams. 🎉 🙌🏽🤘🏽 It is genuinely very rewarding to watch musicians we championed find their way, wherever it may lead them. #KeepMakingMusic by @mucho_music
