Piece 3: 'Interactive doll houses'. They're clearly broken. Nobody's going to stop you from moving them. They're even called interactive.

Like our world, we still hesitate to feel we have permission to change what clearly isn't working. What if we make it worse? What if we get in trouble? Maybe we've got better things to be doing?

Overall my work explores how belief and superstition help modulate the balance between status quo and change.

Piece no 2: The Ruins of Ennaichess

A crumbling ruin taken over by opportunistic weeds and wildlife. Inspired by the superstition around Irish Fairy Trees and Sidhs, this piece represents how fear of the unknown can inhibit change and protect what's inside.

What I've been working on this year....

Piece no 1. HOSPITAL PRESEPE

A commentary on how the NHS transformed from cult status into secular religion during the pandemic. Patients and staff sacrificed for the sake of saving the UK's largest employer.

Keep the faith!

It's rough but I'm proud of it! Thanks to Mithras House technicians for help building it and East Sussex AgeUK (and donors!) for the initial books!

Here's hoping it doesn't fall off!

Influenced by Ivan Illich’s Medical Nemesis and Deschooling Society, Len compare societal hyper-specialisation and neoliberalism with multicellular organisms, prone to the same pathologies and increasingly resulting in alienation from shared human experience.

Her work ‘Pruning the Hegemony’ explores the intricate relationships between bureaucracies, communities and technology.

Come see ‘Pruning the Hegemony’ in the MA Sustainable Design Show 2026
