The last supper for these rambunctious creatures.
With a heavy heart i admire truly how generative their impact on this is. Just check out that deep green trailing in their wake.

Let's talk pasture & place making.

Where to begin? Well maybe with the fact that grasslands are the reason you and I are standing today, literally! Without grasslands we would be on all fours and spending more time in trees. Maybe thats not such a bad thing. Right?
Well it held the bitter breath of winter at bay, fought back the those long ferocious winter nights, so that dawn may break upon our cold weathered faces sooner. It gave us a sanctuary, room to breathe, space to curate, and the fertile ground for which we cultivated culture.
Not to mention meat, animal fats, complex protein chains of peptides and amino acids. Or simply put, i gave us health, it gave us life.
A healthy, intact themeda grasslands for instance, an Australian staple. Is home to roughly 40 different species of plants, supporting the plethora of lizards, amphibians, birds, marsupials & mammals. Including us. A fully functioning ecosystems that requires no inputs and produces essential sources of food, as well as a place to practice culture.
But these grasslands are seriously threatened, less than .5% left.
The widespread collapse of grasslands/pasture in Australia is due to one thing in particular.
Overgrazing, or more importantly, set stocking.
You see, grasses co-evolved (as did all beings) through transcoporeal relationships between the plants, and the animals. The herbivores ate the chlorophyll rich grasses and turned that solar energy into fats and proteins, and the predators kept the herbivores moving, always. This is why a baby calf is on its feet in a matter of hours. Moving onto to greener pastures, leaving the grasses with a nutrient dense present, its dung. Fermented and inoculated with healthy microbes, a whopping 70% of nutrient sequestration goes back into feeding the soil, the other 30% oxidizes into the essential greenhouse gasses we need for this biological world to grow.
The predator animals are a key stone species in ecosystems, sharks, wolves, lions... & Humans. Its truly undeniable that predators play an integral role in the healthy function of ecosystems, and make no mistake, we are predators. we just forgot our place as predators. To keep the herbivores moving. by @muffin_break_

Beauty hits us in a subtle way we understand, but cannot explain.

And thinking of the cosmos fine tuning in symphony, lurking in the shadowy casms of living soil beneath this beloved cover crop is like trying to understand beauty.

Its better just to marvel at her wonders, and maybe.. just maybe, she will tell me tales of her secret story. ❤️ by @muffin_break_

What is country? over the hills and far away?
That place upon the horizon? 2hrs drive out west?
Since the global industrialization of agriculture, her story has been an ode to hallowed horrors. reduced to rubble. bleached bones crest barron hills, purloined plains. And yet she still gives.

Its not just rural

Shackled in concrete chains, burnished by bitumen. We set up camp. Domestic law replaces the law of the land. Wilderness in exile.

But wildness still remains holding on by tooth and claw

In the dande-LIONS tearing cracks through pavement.
The oak roots cracking structural footings, creating smoke holes in our homes.

Country does not flee from human habitation, because country is not of other, country is of we.

Shaped by story, our belief framework is complex.
Lets find stories that bridge the urban-rural divide, and tend to healthy relationships for us, our community and Papatuanuku, the earth mother by @muffin_break_
