Sometimes my Rollei gets stuck on the first frame of a new roll. I used to fret about it, which completely ruined the frame. Now I learned to be patient and keep moving the crank backwards, until it is ready to move forward. This time it took four exposures to get to the next frame. I stayed with it and kept composing intuitively, imagining the layers. It’s never what I think the results will be, but I end up loving these “accidents”. Of course it’s a metaphor. My radioactive Rollei has become my sensei of sorts and I love it dearly. Long live film.

These shots didn’t come through on film, sadly. Half of the roll came back black. Thankfully I did pre-shoot them digitally, so at least we still have a visual of what we wanted to do with @rubyvandenbrink 🤪 these drafts will do till next time we see each other. I miss you Ruby! Virgo rising here. Exposing my messy sides physically pains me and ironically the one thing that makes me feel lighter. I’ve edited and re-edited this piece for a few days and now it feels like I’ve been repeating the same word till it stopped making sense. So I’m letting this wild beast loose. Don’t judge my grammar too harshly, no AI has been exploited in writing this essay. Be a human also and wave hello in comments 👋

Gluing these two half-frames the girls shot of us together. Because it’s all in the feeling, isn’t it? This is what it feels like when once or twice a year-ish we all go out for a concert at night, dance our legs off, finish the night at a taco stand and talk about never repeating it again the next morning, till we repeat it again some months after. Got @hollywilmeth in the freezing water on the mountain again. Same but different, a few turns more of a spiral. A reminder to brave it, find stillness in discomfort and to keep playing.

@valeria_tam in her pioneer woman era, for her baby furniture line @nidomuebles, which was inspired by her own kids.

Funny fact, 15 years ago when my first daughter was born, I was looking for a woven bassinet lined and padded with cotton. Most things I found did not quite match my first-time-mom vision :) I ended up making my own, sourcing the basket locally and sewing and stuffing the padded cotton lining for it myself with the help of my mom. I remember buying crazy amounts of cotton wool rolls in the pharmacy. It took me forever and it was a beautiful heirloom piece I passed on to another mom. Shortly after, I came upon Valeria’s furniture store and saw the exact bassinet I was looking for, designed by her. We’ve been on the same frequency long before we met one another. Perhaps this is why it feels so easy to create together, for which I am grateful every day ✨ by @mukashaphoto
