2025 had some uniquely fun times, and I was so pleased to share so many of them with my girls. It was a privilege to make some new friends in San Francisco and NYC, and to join old friends in Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Los Angeles. Looking forward to 2026! by @multipercussive

Featuring prominently in John Adams’ opera “Antony and Cleopatra”, the Cimbalom is having its moment, and it’s being propelled into the limelight by our newest Met Orchestra Musician (on loan), Chester Englander.

Englander is a percussionist who has performed in nearly every orchestra under the sun with conductors ranging from Gustavo Dudamel to John Adams, performing works ranging from Adams to the music of Frank Zappa and Brahms, and the Met Orchestra is grateful to hear the Cimbalom played so beautifully in every performance of the opera, opening up our ears to a new tonality.

Watch the video to see if Met Hornist Barbara Jöstlein can play a C Major scale in a challenge posed by Chester - $500 is on the line.

Chester was featured recently in the @newyorkermag so make sure to check it out!

So grateful to Jane Bua at @newyorkermag for taking an interest in the cimbalom. And yes, I was wearing socks showing a cow being abducted by a UFO. Link in Bio! taken in The Metropolitan Opera by @multipercussive

Rest in Peace to the great Joe Adato, longtime percussionist of the @cleveorch. He was the primary cymbal player during my student years and many before and after that, and to say that he was inspiring doesn’t really describe it. His legacy of recordings have provided inspiration to generations of percussionists, and I will listen to Pines of Rome with Maazel today in his honor. taken in Severance Hall by @multipercussive

Happy 90th birthday (10/3) to Steve Reich! His music began to change my life the first time I heard Clapping Music, and then his Sextet which I performed *twice* at CIM (one performance was far more successful than the other). I was blessed to record his masterpiece Tehillim with the @LAPhil way back in 2006, with the great Stefan Asbury and the Synergy Vocals. While I have never met the man, he has been a good friend to me through inspiring me since I was a young musician. by @multipercussive

I am thrilled to be rejoining my friends of @noexitnewmusic for two performances on 10/23 and 10/24! Repertoire includes Michelangelo Fragments for solo cimbalom by @jpereiramusic, Tre Pezzi/Tre Altri Pezzi for cimbalom and clarinet by György Kurtág (with Gunnar Hirthe), and my duo arrangement of Phrygian Gates by John Adams (performed with Katy LaFavre). Hope to see all of my Cleveland friends there!!! by @multipercussive
