Introducing: No-Fun-Guy! This is the sketchbook drawing of a slightly disgruntled looking mushroom-y character that I’m using as a base for a new Mumble Tease design.

Shirts have been ordered, colours have been chosen, artwork is being finalized, inks are being mixed, stencils are being cut, and if things go smoothly, I’ll be printing mens and women’s tees this weekend. Yippee!

First chance to see them? The 4th Street @lilacfestyyc happening Sunday, June 7th from 10-6.

You’ll find my tent set up on the east side of 4th street just south of 20th Ave.

Maybe my favourite Mumble Tease sweatshirt I’ve ever made. I’ve been wearing this “Plant Lady” sweatshirt on repeat. It’s cozy and an effortless fit. And makes me so excited for the beginning of gardening season.

And I finally got back behind the camera lens and took some pictures of myself sporting a few of my current favourites. I used to do this every season of new shirts, but for various reasons, haven’t managed it since becoming a mama. (My body changed, I felt like I had no time and no flattering clothes to wear with my creations, I’m getting older…)

The pictures turned out fine! Here’s a gentle reminder (for myself as well) to be kind to yourself as your body changes through life. by @mumbletease

I had the pleasure of announcing my participation in the handmade village at the @winnipegfolkfestival last week.

Doing so made me realized that I hadn’t shared any pictures of the limited edition shirts I made to celebrate the festival’s 50th anniversary last year! Here they are!

The artwork is of the mainstage with the moon and dragonflies rising behind and a mosaic of tarps flowing down.

I printed them in a closed edition of 50, and signed and numbered each one (after I took these pictures, because who can remember to do everything in the right order?!)

The Winnipeg Folk Fest has become such a treasured part of my year and it felt so right to make a special shirt for such an incredible milestone.

51 years is pretty incredible too, so I’m planning on releasing a new design in limited edition of 51 for this year’s festival! Maybe it will become an annual tradition…? 😊

The moment we’ve all been waiting for! (Ok, maybe not everyone gets as excited as me about going to Winnipeg, but I’m really excited.)

I’ll be setting up shop at the one and only @winnipegfolkfestival again this summer! It’s such a good festival with the best people, camping and community.

It’ll be my 12th year going, and preparations are already well underway. I caaaaannn’t waaaaiiiit!!!!

Also, it’s such a delight to see the art that the talented @robertalandreth comes up with for the festival. She knocked it out of the park again this year, wouldn’t you say? by @mumbletease

A new design is in the works! Actually a few new designs are in the works, but this is one of them.

I’ve been having fun with paint markers on paper as a way to go from a line drawing to a coloured design to print. Here’s the coloured version drawn in molotow paint markers, and then the line drawing from my sketchbook that I used as a base for the coloured version.

It’ll be screen-printed on some lovely grey/blue shirts sometime in the next couple of months! …most likely with wildly different colours than what I have here…

I’ve been making an effort to draw more. As a stay at home mom with a two year old it can feel like a daunting task to draw every day, but starting small, even 5 minutes before bedtime helps build the habit.

The 6 best friends that anyone did have 🤣

I’m still running off the high of this group! When I’m going through my mentorship program applications and selecting the participants that will be working together, it’s always a little nerve wracking….What if they don’t get along? What if the vibes are off?

Spoiler: the vibes were ON! I could not be more happy bringing this group together. All super talented artists in their own ways ready to take on mural painting. They were professional, enthusiastic, and kept me on my toes by bringing super thoughtful questions to the table.

Aside from the learning, we shared bits of our lives, were vulnerable, and created so many inside jokes with each other.

When the time came when someone said “We should do a pyramid!!”, it was a no brainer. The hardest part was figuring out who was going on top. 🤣

Thank you to these 5 for donating their time to spend with me to paint this mural for a great cause. I also wanted to thank everyone who applied for the mentorship program. I wish I could take everyone. Please keep applying! 🖤 taken in Calgary, Alberta by @mumbletease

Our official mural reveal for @kindred_ab at the @yychomeshows!

This team spent the last 5 days together diving into all things mural related, from start to finish and everything in between. I am so proud of them!

This mural was painted for the amazing local nonprofit Kindred, who provides rapid access counselling and accessible mental health resources for Calgarians. It was designed to create a warm and cozy environment for their offices and programming areas. It was an honour to paint this for them.

Thank you to this cohort of mentees for being so sweet, fun, and eager to learn. I adore you all!

I’ve been wanting to get back into mural painting for a while now. That’s right, get back into it!

I’ll bet you didn’t know that some of my first paying commissions as an artist were murals.

Immersive walls to liven up some kid’s rooms. A road-mural with community involvement to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the community I grew up in. Custom address numbers to fill a garage door.

I couldn’t find pictures of most of them, but here’s a few pictures of the road mural I designed and painted with help from volunteer community members. I can’t even remember what year this was in… 2007? 2008?

When I recently found out about the opportunity to gain hard-earned insider info from a professional muralist, I thought it would be the perfect way to jump in with two feet!

I’m one of five artists chosen to assist Rachel of @rachellyondesignco in live painting a 20’ mural at the Calgary Home and Garden Show that will be donated to the local non-profit Kindred at the end of the show.

Happy Lunar New Year! I’ve got a small edition of screen-printed Fire Horse prints in the works, here’s the silly pencil crayon drawing I’m using for the artwork.

I’ve been enjoying doing more of my preliminary drawing and design work on good old paper these days. While I do scan it and use the computer to make adjustments and clean things up if necessary, (like where the mane meets the back) I like getting the bulk of the work done without a screen involved.

I find that working in different mediums produces different results, and I’m loving the more reactive, imaginative approach I’m able to take when drawing on paper. I can see the whole and build off of what I’ve put down on the page in a way I can’t when working digitally.

Also, I get to draw with pencil crayons. Which makes me feel silly, and like a kid, and that can’t be a by @mumbletease
