Full circle moment!! 🇲🇽✨

The last time I was in Mexico was February 2019 for college freshman year spring break. Looking at myself back then, I knew deep down that something had to change. I wanted a different lifestyle, but taking that first step was terrifying. I remember pondering it for weeks before finally building up the courage to bring the idea up to my mom, absolutely scared of what she would say.

Fast forward to October 2019: I took the leap and had my vertical sleeve gastrectomy.

Six (and some change) years later, in April 2026, I finally went back to Mexico after earning my spot on our work rewards trip. Being there again was a completely surreal experience. Last time, my mind was consumed by heavy thoughts about my body in comparison to everyone else. This time those voices were completely gone! To experience a trip with that kind of mental freedom, completely present and at peace, made me realize just how far I’ve truly come.

This journey has been anything but easy. It’s six years of learning, adapting, and navigating daily challenges. But looking back at where it all started? I wouldn’t trade this life or this version of myself for anything.

I know how heavy that fear can be when you’re starting at the beginning. If you are desperately wanting to make a change but paralyzed by the unknown—make the scary choice anyway.

You don’t need to know exactly where the path leads. You just have to trust yourself enough to take the first step. If college-age me could do it, you can too. Your future self is waiting for you to be brave!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Full day of food and movement: Working edition👩‍💻✨

My morning typically starts at 6:30a with hot lemon water to wake up the system, followed by coffee and meal prep before heading to work at 8:30. ☕️

Breakfast is typically Greek yogurt with frozen blueberries and a hard-boiled egg. My stomach still gets full pretty quickly, so I focus on slow eating

Mid-day I head home at lunch to let the dog out and reset. I usually don’t get full until around 2pm, so that’s when I eat my lunch 🤷‍♀️I usually eat tuna and hummus mixed together (don’t knock it ‘til you try it) It’s super easy, protein-dense, and perfect with a side of crunchy peppers, cucumbers, and carrots.

Movement: Squeezed in a 1-mile walk on the pad between calls once I got home, then hit the gym for abs, a 1-mile run, and a 2-mile incline walk.

Dinner is just cleaning out the fridge before we head out of town! Seared tuna, edamame, sweet potato, cottage cheese, and tomato. 🥗

Finished the day hitting both my water and step goals. Successful day 🫡

Fit fam!!!! It’s been a minute, so I thought I’d re-introduce myself and share some life updates 🥳

For those who are new here: My name is Abby. I had Vertical Sleeve surgery in October 2019. I lost 100 lbs in that first year, and I’ve officially kept it off for 6 years now! I am currently sitting at 157 lbs and feeling stronger than ever 💪

One of the hardest things I’ve dealt with mentally this past year is realizing that weight fluctuations are NATURAL—especially as we get older. It’s a hard pill to swallow after the phase of rapid weight loss, but I’m learning that as long as I’m staying active and fueling my body right, the number on the scale doesn’t get to define my success. It’s about how I feel, how I move, and the life I’m building.

How I’m staying on track:
• Movement: Running, lifting, weighted vest walks, stair stepper, and rowing. Switching it up daily keeps me excited to show up!

• The Routine: Prioritizing daily activity and hitting my goals, while still leaving room for the “good stuff.” Sustainability > Perfection. 😉

• Life Update: I’m officially a bride-to-be! 💍 I got engaged last October and I’m in full-blown wedding planning mode. I definitely didn’t realize how much work goes into the big day, but I’m loving the process 😅

I’m hopping back on here for that daily accountability and to stay focused, but also to catch up with all of you!

Remember: your journey isn’t a straight line. There will be seasons of grit and seasons of grace—both are necessary to get where you’re going. Don’t let a number keep you from seeing how far you’ve come.

Let’s get after it! ✨

I’m running 200 miles this summer in memory of my dad—and for Gilda’s Club 💛

When I lost my dad to cancer at age 6, Gilda’s Club was one of the only places that made me feel like I wasn’t the only child dealing with the loss of a parent, which helped me immensely. With an effort to give back in a deeper way- I recently joined their West Side Walk Committee, and this is my first fundraiser!

🎗️ 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will face cancer in their lifetime—not to mention the loved ones affected too.

So here’s the goal:
🏃‍♀️ Run 200 miles by Sept 27
💛 Raise $0.50 per mile (or whatever works for you, flat rate donation is available as well)
📣 100% goes to Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids to fund free cancer and grief support.

✏️ Pledge here:

💸 Donate here:

https://www.classy.org/fundraiser/6413021

Even the smallest pledge or donation makes a huge impact. Thank you for cheering me on and helping keep my dad’s memory alive 💛
