Noticing differences in how your child communicates, interacts with others or responds to their surroundings?

These can sometimes be early signs of autism, and recognizing them can help families connect with support sooner.

MUSC Children's Health psychologist Dr. Rosmary Ros-Demarize recently joined South Carolina Public Radio's Health Focus to talk about what parents should know about early autism symptoms, when to seek an evaluation and how therapy can help children develop important skills.

From helping children manage asthma to caring for those with complex lung conditions, our Pediatric Pulmonology & Lung Surgery team is there for patients and families through many stages of childhood.

Among the specialists on the team is Dr. Chung Lee, who has cared for some of his patients for more than 10 years!

He says watching those children grow up and helping families become more confident in their care are some of the things he enjoys most about being a pediatric pulmonologist.

Congratulations to Dr. Lee and the entire team on earning national recognition from U.S. News & World Report for 2026–2027!

Kevin Campbell spends his workdays helping keep our patients and families safe. But his experiences at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital have inspired him to help in a way you might not expect!

Outside of work, Kevin has a passion for metal detecting and loves searching for lost jewelry, old coins and other treasures across South Carolina.

After seeing the challenges children and families face during cancer treatment, he decided to use that passion to support pediatric cancer research.

Kevin doesn't charge for helping people recover lost items, but if someone offers to make a donation, he plans to direct it toward a cause that's become especially important to him.

For Abby Husk, the best part of her Pediatric Urology team’s recent national recognition isn’t the ranking itself. It’s what that recognition represents.

As an advanced practice provider at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, Abby helps care for some of our most complex patients alongside a team of physicians, advanced practice providers and nurses.

It’s their combined expertise, the care they provide and the trust families place in them that make this recognition from U.S. News & World Report so special.

We’re celebrating Abby and the entire Pediatric Urology team!

Our four-legged friends are an important part of the healing journey at MUSC. Throughout the day, volunteer handlers and their canine partners make visits across the hospital, offering comfort and plenty of tail wags. If you happen to see one of our canine therapists during your visit, be sure to stop and say hello—they're here for you.

To celebrate these beloved hospital heroes, Charleston artist Julia Deckman created five playful new portraits for the Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital Pediatric Emergency Department. Known for her signature bold colors and joyful, pattern-filled style, Julia captures the unique personalities of the therapy dogs that have brought smiles and a sense of calm to countless children and families over the years.

Behind this national recognition is a team that knows children's mental health care is never one-size-fits-all.

At MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital, Dr. Rakin Hoq and our Pediatric & Adolescent Behavioral Health team work together to understand each child's unique needs and help families navigate some of their most difficult moments.

Their approach goes beyond addressing an immediate concern. It's about looking at the bigger picture and helping families understand the care and support available to them.

This World Mental Health Day, we're celebrating the entire team and their recent recognition among the nation's Best Children's Hospitals for Pediatric & Adolescent Behavioral Health by U.S. News & World Report!

A little music, some glow sticks and a visit from Cher made for a fun afternoon on our 10th floor!

Patients, families and care team members at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital came together last week for a glow dance party to close out National Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders Awareness Month.

With colorful lights, dancing and a chance to design their own name badges, patients had an opportunity to enjoy some time together outside their usual routines in the hospital.

What an incredible year for Hooked on Miracles!

This summer’s annual fishing tournament raised $400,000 for MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, and last week, we got to celebrate with some of the people who helped make it happen.

The Hooked on Miracles team, sponsors and partners spent time throughout the hospital, visiting different areas and hearing from care team members about some of the programs their fundraising helps support.

$400,000 is an amazing amount raised for the children and families we serve, and we’re so grateful to every single person who played a part in making it possible.
