I’ve reflected on my journey so many times throughout my career and the challenges I faced - some of which are still prevalent today and that’s representation and access. This led me to launch an initiative early this year to celebrate South Asian women in music.

I’m now proud to collaborate with @punchrecords to empower the next generation of South Asian women working across the music industry - access to signings, senior roles, investment and to make sure they occupy spaces they have earned.

Educating independent creators to build a solid foundation for success in the music business.

It doesn’t take long for you to understand the basics and get the tools you need to get paid, protect your music (and yourself), understanding how label and/or publishing deals work, streaming, getting syncs and understanding how you and your music fit within the music business.

I’m a lawyer and a music industry master; with my time in the industry spanning across twenty years - damn, I’m old! I’ve worked in many areas of the industry from PRS for Music, iTunes/Apple Music, Warner Chappell, Peloton and now I’m repping at SoundCloud.

I understand the business intrinsically from songwriting, getting paid to licensing and I want to share this knowledge with you - to empower you to make informed decisions about your music and/or business.

9 October 2026. Music Week Women In Music Awards.

Honoured to have given 10 incredible South Asian women working in the music industry, a "seat at the table."

@musicdefineduk + @punchrecords hosted a table at the @musicweekinsta awards - bringing them together to share a room with other incredible, pioneering and inspirational women.

This was the first step towards my commitment to South Asian women - more access, opportunities, representation and occupying spaces they have earned.

I am honoured to be featured in @INvolve.people’s 2026 Heroes Role Model Lists supported by @youtube within the Executives List!

These global Lists celebrate Role Models in business who are driving inclusion for women in business. Let’s work together to shift the needle towards inclusion, recognition and access. Representation is foundational.

This one is especially meaningful to me. Less than 12 months ago, I had an idea to celebrate and elevate South Asian women in the music industry, and now we’re here:

✨ April 2026: we hosted our inaugural event

✨ We launched the music:defined hub, which will focus on educating, mentoring and inspiring South Asian women in music

✨ Before the end of the year, our mentoring pilot program will go live

I’ve been a little quiet over here following the success of @musicdefineduk's inaugural event to celebrate South Asian Women In Music (@musicdefinedcelebrates)

I took some time to reflect on the impact this event had, and the power of celebrating South Asian Women In Music for so many – women who’ve been In industry for many years, those finding their feet and our allies.

I want to create something meaningful for this space.

A space that hasn’t been prioritised or received any attention, yet produces some of the most talented, driven and ambitious women in the music industry.

Allow me to introduce you to music:defined hub – a platform focused on educating, mentoring and inspiring South Asian women in the music industry. To support the next generation of music industry executives to navigate the industry, with opportunities to build new skills, gain music business knowledge, and make meaningful connections. Putting them in rooms they may not otherwise have access to, and connecting them with other music industry executives

music:defined hub will also extend the work @musicdefineduk already does - supporting creators and businesses to navigate the music business - but on a broader scale, giving developing creators greater access to music industry education and opportunities.

Honouring the trailblazers who paved the way, while standing alongside the next generation ready to carry it forward. That kind of connection? Truly powerful.

The teasng is over… Incoming April 2026!

music:defined is launching a new initiative to celebrate and champion South Asian women in the UK music industry.

Why is this important? 68% of South Asian artists and professionals in the UK feel poorly represented or invisible within the industry. For real.

We need to change that…

Kicking off with our inaugural event on the 30th April 2026 in London, we’ll be honouring South Asian women across two categories; Ones Who Inspire - inspirational leaders who have made a significant impact on the music industry over the years - and Ones To Watch – those rising stars coming up through the ranks, spotlighting both established voices and emerging talent.

Later, we’ll bring empowerment, mentorship and connection.
