Rare Air: only around 200 songs in the history of music have ever been certified Diamond by the RIAA. Of those 200, only 80 are rap songs. So, this is one for the history books.

As a producer - SoundExchange will not pay you without a SoundExchange Letter of Direction (LOD). It’s a simple document the Artist signs to tell SoundExchange: “Send ___% of my SoundExchange royalties to this producer/mixer/musician.”

It does *not* change ownership of the master. It just directs a portion of the digital performance royalties to you, straight from SoundExchange.

If you produced a record that’s getting streams on Pandora, SiriusXM, or internet radio, and there’s no LOD in place - then that means you aren’t able to get your fair share.

A good publisher isn’t just a form-filler. They’re a tracker, a checker, and a professional “follow-upper.”

Registration is just the *first* step. Your songs need to be correctly registered with PROs, mechanical agencies, digital platforms, and foreign societies — and those registrations need to match across all those systems.

Then comes collection and auditing: matching statements to registrations, spotting missing songs, chasing unmatched royalties, and asking the uncomfortable questions when something looks off.
