Today marks 40 years on earth—so what better occasion to drop a part. 🌊 🏄🏽

I’ve dreamed of having a part to Foo Fighters - Everlong since I was about 12. Back then, I always pictured it as a full-on shredding skate part—but over the last 4.5 years on Oʻahu, I’ve made a pretty quick transition from the streets to the ocean. 🌊

The mix of slow-paced living and high-intensity surfing has been the perfect balance for my mind and body—and honestly, some of the most progressive years of my surfing.

Over the past year, I’ve been fortunate to share waves with some of my favorite people, and even luckier to have those moments captured by a bunch of insanely talented videographers. I’m stoked to share a small glimpse into the last year or so—clips captured mostly by coincidence, and a few intentionally from my Mentawai trip with @poo.brain_.

“Ode to Occ” is inspired by the hundreds of times I wore out my VHS copy of Occy: The Occumentary, especially watching @markocchilupo’s legendary intro part to “Everlong” on repeat before surf sessions. (Check it on YouTube)

Huge thanks to all the friends, family, and filmers who’ve supported me. I’m really happy to be where I’m at in life, surrounded by such a rad community—both locally and digitally. 📲

Beyond grateful for this one — best gift I could’ve asked for. 😭

Huge thank you to my lovely lady @petalmettle for this custom board from @schaperhawaii. Thanks for being my number one supporter of my surf obsession and non-stop cheerleader in and out of the water. I love you.💞

Told Carl Schaper I wanted a twin pin that could paddle into overhead waves (and bigger), take steep drops, and race down the line to catch up to hackable sections — he listened and absolutely delivered.

After many weeks at the drawing board I came up with the paint concept and the airbrush master #GavinHasegawa executed it perfectly 🙏 “midlife crisis flames” turned Ed Roth / classic car culture with a ENDLESS SUMMER color way and a dash Point Break as always. 🦩🔥

This board is magic. Fast, flows, and holds in the critical stuff — disappears under my feet. A true blade. Classic lines with modern details, built for power. ✨

From the imagination of Kevin (@musthrash) and realized by the skills and experience of Carl comes this hot rod—a stripped down classic twin fin, souped up with a timeless design for Hawaiian waves, and most importantly, made to go much faster.

When Kevin talked to Carl, he said that he wanted a twin pin that will paddle him into overhead waves (and bigger), take steep drops, and race down the line to catch up to hack-able sections.

What Carl shaped is a board decades in the making. “The board has a lot of things from the last 50 years kinda just melded together,” Carl said.

“It has an outline from the 70’s that is really timeless, bottom curves solidly proven in the 80’s, rail designs that were worked out in the 90’s, slapped a couple of fins on it and off it went.”

It has vintage sensibilities but “it is not retro at all,” Carl said. “It’s very current, in my opinion”.

In the end, you can design and buy the perfect board, but it’s all about the rider.

“This board is perfect for the surfer who paddles hard, not scared to dump it over the ledge and then knows how to put the pedal to the metal,” said Carl.

It is perfect for Kevin and we can’t wait to see him on some nuggets soon.
