Salam everyone!

Below is the message @roojithefoodie sent to everyone and I think it summarises everything perfectly

Thankyou @roojithefoodie and @the.wanderlust.women for the support and inspiration. You both are real ones. See Roojis message below.

❤️

Last weekend, I spent 3 days at Harmony Farm in Wales, a Muslim-owned farm run by a lovely couple and their family. It was beautiful to see what they’re creating for our community, but I also witnessed first-hand the challenges that come with running the farm.

Rooted in Islam, khidmah to our community, nature and wellbeing, Harmony Farm provides Muslim families and community groups with a space to reconnect, slow down, spend time in nature and nurture their wellbeing in an environment that reflects their faith. Having experienced it myself, I really feel there is a need for spaces like this within our community.

The weather over the last few months in Wales has had a huge impact on the farm, affecting their water supply, gardens, produce and animals, while also resulting in many bookings having to be turned away.

After speaking with the owners, we’ve set up a fundraiser to help drought-proof the farm by capturing and storing as much rainwater and spring water as possible over the winter.
Funds will go towards water tanks, groundworks and trenches, pipework, pond liners, guttering and filtration.

If you’re able to, please consider donating and sharing the appeal. Every contribution will help protect the future of this very special space. 🤍

A weekend of slowing down, Getting stuck into farm life, learning new skills and reconnecting with nature with what really matters.

Baby goat cuddles, milking, making cheese, cooking wholesome meals, hiking, sitting together, sharing stories, and remembering Allah.

At Harmony Farm, we weren’t just learning about where our food comes from we were learning to live a little closer to our fitrah.

There was something so beautiful about stepping away from the noise and spending time in nature, surrounded by sisterhood, good food and intentional living.

Sometimes healing looks like muddy hands, fresh food, mountain air and hearts that remember Allah. 🤍

Alhamdulillah for spaces like this and for the sisters who make them so special. taken in Harmony Farm by @muzzyfarmer

SISTERS IN HARMONY - Harmony farm retreat.

Where do we even start?

There’s something so important about being connected to nature, slowing down life, being connected to the land, knowing where our food comes from, understanding what we’re eating and learning to live a little closer to our fitrah.

That’s why @roojithefoodie and @amira_thewanderlust came together for a wholesome weekend nurturing our mind, body & soul.

Rooji did what she does best — filling our tables with wholesome, nourishing and ridiculously delicious food, while helping us learn more about what we put into our bodies. And of course her beautiful energy.
we were so warmly welcomed by @muzzyfarmer and Elif , who opened up their farm, their home and their knowledge to us with such genuine hospitality.

We learnt about food, farming and what it actually takes to run and live on a farm the work, the simplicity, the challenges and the beauty.

It made us stop and think about how we live.

How much we consume.
How much we waste.
Where our food comes from.
How dependent we are on convenience.

And how we can become more intentional with the way we live.

Then, of course, there was adventure.

Bushcraft, exploring nature, getting our hands dirty, learning about the land and simply slowing down together with @amira_thewanderlust

A weekend of food, nature, learning, faith, sisterhood and reconnecting with the simple things.

Assalamu alaykum all

This year was one of the hardest years we have had on the farm since we came here in 2015

We had record levels of drought, huge wild fires that decimated around 220 hectares of neighbouring grass lands. We had to cancel many bookings due to the fires and low levels of water. Our kitchen garden which is normally flush with produce was a dusty dry and barren place. We were limited to quick washes and took every drop we could from our neighbours.

This year we are going to drought proof our farm by capturing as much rainwater and spring water over the winter as possible.

We will need

Water tanks
digging and ground works
Pipe work
liners for ponds
Gutter installation
robust filtration
Digging trenches

All of this whilst looking after the harmony farm guests and of course all of the animals.

We turn to Allah and we turn to his servants for support. Pleaae give what you can and share far and wide.

Sister @roojithefoodie and @amira_thewanderlust are such an inspiration to us and we were honoured when they said they would put this crowd fund up for us after they came and saw first hand what we we gping through. May Allah give them all the blessings and light they deserve.

As a home cook, one of the most important parts of hosting for me is undoubtedly the food. It doesn’t always have to be the most elaborate meal but the love, care and attention I put in to each meal matters. I carry this in to every event and every retreat, so trust me when I say, the food at the Sister’s in Harmony retreat will be the fuel you need to feel well looked after during your weekend away.

All meat will be sponsored by @abrahamorganics giving you only the best!

🌕The fitrah, in English translated as the natural human disposition, is the human beings natural inclination to good and repulsion at evil. This innate pull explains why we feel a sense of awe at the creation of Allah Swt and why we turn away from certain acts even as young adults.

Over time, this natural disposition can become polluted with outside factors; our environments, our inability to sit with ourselves for periods of time, that which we watch, listen and read every day. Returning to this natural way is incredibly important when we look at one’s spiritual life. How can we look within and trust what is within, if that which is cultivated inside of us is rooted in this constantly changing algorithm that we are engaging with daily, as opposed to truly connecting with the natural world around and within us.

Although there is much to say and discuss on the fitrah, and scholars have for many years, we shed light on this to bring to you Madrassat al Anwaars proud collaboration with Muzzy the farmer. InshaAllah in the academic year we will take trip to the farm and experience some of what we have described. You will have the opportunity to slow down your fast paced routine and spend time in nature with beautiful companionship. There will be classes, activities and the ability to spend quality time with like minded brothers and sisters.

📎If you haven’t already, please use the link in our bio to sign up for our classes in September inshaAllah. @muzzyfarmer taken in Cardiff, Wales (UK) by @muzzyfarmer
