A fall backpacking trip that will forever live rent free in my brain 🥲🌲✨➡️

Larch madness is here and was FINALLY able to check this hike off of the list. The route starts from the Rainy Pass trailhead and follows the Maple Pass Loop before branching off toward your final destination….

📍Wing Lake | Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, WA
🌲 Located about 3 - 3.5 hours from Seattle
🥾 10 - 11 miles RT | 3500ft elevation gain

‼️you will have to navigate through a mile-long talus and boulder field, so make sure you’re prepared. This trail is not easy…

Not only is this spot an incredible place to see larches but also the peaks of the North Cascades! I also experienced probably one of the best sunrises of my life here…😮‍💨

This alpine lake might be one of my favorite fall spots in Washington! Turquoise water, jagged peaks, and golden larches… what more could you ask for? 😮‍💨

📍Blue Lake Trail | Winthrop, Washington
🌲Located about 3.5 hours from Seattle
🥾 4.6 miles RT | 915 elevation gain per @alltrails
🍂 Best time: late Sept–mid Oct (to see golden larches!)

✨ For those who don’t know, a larch tree is a deciduous conifer located in high alpine environments that turn a bright yellow before shedding their needles for the winter

Tips: I recommend to go at sunrise or sunset for a more peaceful experience. And as always, don’t forget to pack out everything you brought in 🫶🏼

You’ll want to save this one! ⤵️

We had originally planned on hiking in Mount Rainer earlier that day but got completely stormed out. So we ended up driving back home and snuck this one in later that evening. Tbh avoided this one for a while due to crowds but glad I finally hiked it because….😮‍💨

🌲Located less than 1 hour from Seattle!
🥾 5.6 miles RT | 1440 elevation gain per @alltrails

NOTE: I highly recommend hiking this one at sunset! Less crowds and views for dayssss

🥾 2.2 miles RT | 271ft elevation gain per @alltrails

🏕️ There are designed forested camp spots above the tide line (which we opted for) but many camped on the beach. Also, please store all food in bear vault! This is also a requirement by @olympic_nps

✨NOTE - a backcountry permit from Recreation.gov is needed to camp! Permits are $8 per person, per night and rangers do walk down the beach to check so ensure to have one printed.

If you visit, leave no trace and pack everything out that you bring in! 🫶🏼
