Malcolm X is a community college in Chicago providing two-year degrees, short-term certificates, continuing education, and free HSE & ESL classes.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A powerful moment for Chicago’s West Side.

On Friday, Malcolm X College officially named its West Campus Community Center after Congressman Danny K. Davis, a leader whose connection to this college goes back decades.

Long before he was in Congress, Davis taught classes right here at Malcolm X College in the 1970s. Since then, he’s helped secure millions of dollars for our students, funding campus renovations, childcare, technology labs, and study abroad opportunities.

This building carries his name because of a relationship with this community that’s lasted a lifetime.
Congratulations and thank you, Congressman Davis.

That’s a wrap on Hispanic Heritage Month at Malcolm X College! 🎉

All month long our campus celebrated the music, food, and stories of Hispanic culture. Sones de Mexico filled the Grand Stairs with Afro Mexican music, community organizers and @citycollegeschicago Leadership shared the journeys that shaped them, we played lotería over Taco Tuesday, and we closed it all out with carnival dancers, folklórico, and live music.

Big thanks to @mxc_sga for putting this month together, and to @indiemedia for helping bring the performances to life on opening and closing day. A special thank you to all of our performers, including the ones who aren’t pictured here. You brought the energy all month long and we’re grateful for every one of you! ❤️

Today we said goodbye to the METAS program at Malcolm X College with an afternoon of music, food, student voices, and a lot of heartfelt reflection.

"Metas" means "goals," and that's exactly what this program helped students chase. Through METAS for HSI, students found a path into science, technology, engineering, and math, earning their degrees, exploring STEM careers, and preparing to transfer and take the next step.

We honored the faculty and staff who poured their hearts into this program and heard from the students whose paths it changed. It's hard to put into words what METAS meant to the people in that room, but you could feel it in every hug and every story told.

Goodbyes like this are bittersweet. Something special is ending, but the relationships, the growth, and the community it created don't end with it.

To everyone who was part of METAS, thank you. taken in Malcolm X College by @mxcollege

Coffee, conversation, and real talk with President Sanders ☕

Today's Fall 2026 Sip & Serve gave students the chance to sit down with the President, share how the semester is going, and learn about the resources available to them right here on campus.

Departments across MXC stepped up to share how they support students, including the Wellness Center, our I AM male mentoring program, She Must Live, and more. If you're looking for support, community, or someone in your corner, these teams are here for you.

Thank you to every student who showed up and spoke up. Your voice shapes this campus, and we're listening. taken in Malcolm X College by @mxcollege

Behind every white coat is a story you didn’t see.

Getting pinned as a Medical Assistant isn’t just about the ceremony. It’s every early morning, every exam studied for after a full shift somewhere else, every moment they thought about quitting and didn’t.

To every Medical Assisting graduate at Malcolm X College, this is yours. You earned every bit of it.

Congratulations to our newest Medical Assistants! taken in Malcolm X College by @mxcollege

National Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15th through October 15th, and MXC is celebrating all month long with events, performances, and programming that highlight Hispanic culture, history, and talent.

We kicked things off with the Hispanic Heritage Artist Showcase, hosted by Student Government right on the Monumental Stairs. Live music, dance, and performance turned the steps into a stage, and the energy from students and staff who came out was everything.

Big thank you to @indiemedia for helping throw this event and thank you to the artists who brought it to life, your talent and your culture made this an unforgettable start to the month.

This is just the beginning. SGA has more coming all through September and October, so keep an eye out and come celebrate with us

It was too hot to be outside, so naturally SGA made sure everyone had a reason to stay anyway.

A grill, a few games and a shared laugh can do more for building community than any orientation packet. Early semester connections start in spaces just like this one. taken in Malcolm X College by @mxcollege
