There’s a lot of new folks here (thanks UAC!) so I wanted to reintroduce myself 🫶🪐

My name is Sterling Bowen! I’m a queer, Brooklyn-based, Southern Appalachian, and I’m a student and practitioner of astrology. My studies are primarily focused on Hellenistic/Medieval techniques, but my practice is very much informed by my background in social work. I believe human-human connections are paramount, and being a community caretaker is my purpose in life.

I’m also a tarot reader with a focus on narrative and storytelling, and my 6th house Mercury wouldn’t let me stop writing if I tried.

UAC 2026 was my first professional astrological conference, and I was nervous going into it being self-taught and only knowing a handful of close friends. My goal was to learn and to meet as many folks as I could, despite my fear of rejection.

Turns out all I had to do was be myself. I was introduced to people who will be my life-long friends and colleagues. We discussed projects and our dreams for the future of astrology, and actively began weaving the threads of the future we’re going to build together.

I have way too many feelings and thoughts for a single post, but if I’m confident of anything it’s this: there was my life before UAC, and now I’m living my life after. The things I learned and the people I met cracked me open enough to help me get out of my own way.

And now I get to bring that magic back to you, my friends and community members. Love is my superpower, and I’m here to breathe that love into the villages I proudly serve. by @mxsterlingbowen
