🏆 AWARD WINNER SPOTLIGHT: Best Feature Documentary Film on Climate Issues from the Netherlands 🇳🇱🌱

✨We are deeply honoured to announce that the Best Feature Documentary Film on Climate Issues from the Netherlands at the 11th edition of the My Name is Climate Film Festival (MNICFF) goes to the remarkable documentary Green Musketeer, recognising the extraordinary journey and life’s work of Key Cast Pieter Hoff!

In Green Musketeer, we follow the inspiring path of Dutch inventor Pieter Hoff on his bold mission to plant one trillion trees on degraded lands to combat climate change, water scarcity, and food insecurity.

Armed with his revolutionary invention—‘intelligent buckets’ designed to establish trees without irrigation—Pieter worked to spark global transformation in some of the world’s harshest landscapes, from China and Tibet to Dubai and Mexico.

Despite his boundless optimism, Pieter faced steep systemic barriers alongside the devastating news of a terminal cancer diagnosis.

Remaining steadfast until his passing in 2021, his legacy was taken up by his son Wout Hoff, who traveled to Nigeria for the Great Green Wall of Africa project to scatter Pieter’s ashes and continue his father's dream of healing our planet.

Green Musketeer deeply moved everyone in the screening room—leaving us teary-eyed yet profoundly uplifted to see such practical, tangible solutions offered to our world.

We wholeheartedly recommend everyone to watch this poignant and powerful film!

Join us in honouring this legacy:

🎬 Best Feature Documentary Film on Climate Issues from the Netherlands:

🏆 AWARD WINNER SPOTLIGHT: Audience Award (Category: Short Documentary Film on Climate Issues from UK)
🎬❄️🔥We are thrilled to announce that the Audience Award in the Short Documentary Film on Climate Issues from UK category at the 11th edition of the My Name is Climate Film Festival (MNICFF2026) goes to director Alan Rudolph Marcus for his deeply moving and visionary work, Saliqmiut: people along the coast, at the edge!

The film explores the profound realities of climate change across two communities in sharply contrasting settings.

In January 2025, Los Angeles was devastated by the worst fires in its history, destroying more than 18,000 homes and structures.

Meanwhile, in the small Canadian Inuit hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk on the Arctic Ocean, the community faces accelerating coastal erosion, flooding, and impending town relocation.

By adopting a novel "fire and ice" bifocal perspective, Saliqmiut bridges two completely different worlds to reflect on local resilience, human adaptation, and community survival amid the escalating climate crisis. It clearly struck a powerful chord with everyone in attendance.

Join us in celebrating this well-deserved recognition:🎬 Audience Award (Category: Short Documentary Film on Climate Issues from UK):Alan Rudolph Marcus – Saliqmiut: people along the coast, at the edge voted by our festival audience for its striking cinematic contrast, urgent frontline stories, and compassionate look at human adaptation!

A huge congratulations to Alan Rudolph Marcus on capturing the hearts and minds of our audience!

🏆 AWARD WINNER SPOTLIGHT: Best Director from USA 🇺🇸🐋🌊

We are immensely proud to announce that the Best Director from USA award at the 11th edition of the My Name is Climate Film Festival (MNICFF2026) goes to John Carlos Frey for his powerful, hard-hitting investigative feature documentary, The Snake and the Whale!

Over the past fifty years, four federal dams impounding the Lower Snake River in Washington State have been identified as the root cause for the demise of all of Idaho’s anadromous fish. The Snake and the Whale uncovers the corrupt deals behind the construction of these dams and exposes the subsequent campaigns designed to conceal their role in an ongoing ecological catastrophe.

Beyond devastating river ecosystems, the dams have profoundly impacted the Southern Resident Orcas off the coast of Washington, which depend on Snake River salmon as their primary food supply—pushing these majestic marine creatures straight to the top of the Endangered Species list.

Through rigorous investigative journalism and cinematic storytelling, John Carlos Frey delivers an urgent, unflinching call for accountability, ecological restoration, and species protection.

Join us in celebrating this outstanding achievement:

🎬 Best Director from USA:

🏆 AWARD WINNER SPOTLIGHT: Best Director (Category: Best Feature on Climate Issues from India) 🇮🇳🌿✨

We are immensely proud to announce that the Best Director award in the Best Feature on Climate Issues from India category at the 11th edition of the My Name is Climate Film Festival (MNICFF) goes to Dr. Purva Tavri for her extraordinary documentary, India’s Circularity – Not a Trend, But a Tradition from the Margins!

Across India’s overlooked margins, reuse, repair, and regeneration are not modern green innovations—they are inherited ways of life rooted in culture, necessity, and care. Featuring voices across sectors—artists, makers, NGO leaders, entrepreneurs, government officials, planners, engineers, institutions, and homemakers—the film journeys through terracotta clusters in Rajasthan, bamboo-timber homes in Sikkim, palm-leaf artisans in Kerala, and community commons in Chhattisgarh.

One story is deeply personal: the director’s mother, whose regenerative practices shaped the director’s own circular worldview long before her professional work in sustainability. With poetic narration, immersive visuals, and grounded research, the film reframes circularity as a lived tradition, not a future policy aspiration.

Join us in congratulating our winner:
