Helping people spend 120 intentional minutes outdoors each week. The evolution of The Outdoor Journal Tour.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
COLD AND SLEEPY.

Three weeks into working in a corporate environment, and I’m noticing how much of the day happens indoors—and how I feel by midday.

I’m cold. I’m sleepy. And I keep seeing people head for coffee to help them stay awake.

It got me thinking about daylight, movement, and whether we’re giving ourselves enough room to recharge during the workday.

So I looked into the research.

A small office-worker study linked limited workplace daylight with poorer sleep and lower vitality. Research on 15-minute lunchtime park walks found links to less afternoon fatigue and better concentration.

A little outdoor time can be a real opportunity to reset.

Take your lunch outside.
Try a short walk or an outdoor pause.
Move a conversation outdoors when it works.

Through @myproject120, I help people and workplaces make outdoor time easier to weave into everyday life—with Lunch Outside experiences, walking meetings tools, and workplace challenges.

You deserve a workday with room to recharge. 🌿

You don’t have to hike a mountain.

You don’t have to find a trail.

You don’t even have to change your clothes.

Drink your coffee outside.
Take the call from the porch.
Eat lunch in the sun.
Walk around the block.
Sit on the steps for ten minutes and do absolutely nothing.

It counts.

Project 120 is about finding 120 minutes each week to get outside—not becoming an “outdoors person.”

Start with 10 minutes.

Then come back tomorrow.

120 minutes. One week. A brighter you.

You do not need to find two uninterrupted hours.

Your 120 minutes can happen ten or fifteen minutes at a time:

A short walk before work.
Lunch outside.
A walking meeting.
Time in the yard while your child plays.
A few quiet minutes on the porch.

Small moments outside still count. And when you return to them consistently, they add up—to more movement, more breathing room and a better week.

How will you begin building your 120 this week?

Project 120 is built around one simple idea: spend 120 intentional minutes outdoors each week.

Not all at once. Not necessarily hiking. Not by adding another complicated wellness routine to your life.

Sit on the porch. Take the meeting outside. Walk after lunch. Read in the sun. Let ordinary outdoor moments count.

You don’t need more time. You need better time outside.

What if lunch could become more than a break?

Lunch Outside is a Project 120 workplace experience that helps teams step away from their screens, spend intentional time outdoors, and reconnect with themselves and one another.

It’s simple by design: no complicated wellness program, no special equipment—just protected time to pause, eat, breathe, and return to the workday differently.

Because a better workplace can begin outside.

What if the next breakthrough your team needs isn’t waiting in another meeting—but just outside the door?

These photos capture what becomes possible when we change the environment: conversations open up, shoulders come down, ideas move more freely, and colleagues have space to reconnect as people.

Project 120 helps organizations bring the restorative power of the outdoors into the workday—without requiring employees to become hikers, athletes, or outdoor experts. Just small, intentional shifts toward more fresh air, movement, connection, and pause.

Through team challenges, facilitated outdoor experiences, workplace tools, and simple practices that fit into the day you already have, we help organizations build cultures where people can breathe, belong, and do their best thinking.

Because a better workplace doesn’t always begin with another strategy.

Sometimes, it begins outside.

You probably don’t need another thing to add to your wellness routine.

You might need somewhere to put all the things you’re already carrying.

That’s one of the reasons I created Project 120.

Not because I think everyone needs to become a hiker, wake up at 5 a.m., or spend their weekends chasing waterfalls.

But because there is something incredibly ordinary — and powerful — about getting outside.

Research has found that spending at least 120 minutes a week in nature is associated with better health and well-being.

And 120 minutes doesn’t have to happen all at once.

Sit outside while you drink your coffee.

Take the long way back from the mailbox.

Eat lunch in the sun.

Walk while you make that phone call.

Let outside become a place you return to — not another thing you have to accomplish. by @myproject120
