The holidays are around the corner, and so are those festive hangovers 🥂

But where do all those empty paracetamol blister packs go?

Our parent company, MYGroup, receives tens of millions of blister packs through their take-back scheme with @bootsuk

Used for medicine and health supplements, blister packs are notoriously hard to recycle, but they don’t have to be.

With some of the blister packs MYGroup receives, we work on innovations to repurpose the materials, while the rest is recycled by MYGroup into aluminium.

With expert machinery, we separate the aluminium and the PVC plastic, a material that is very difficult to work with.

Through this process, we obtain an aluminium powder, which is then melted using ingots.

This is where our work begins…why not create rings out of blister packs? 💡

At ReFactory, we're turning used blister packs into something new ♻️

Through our dedicated separation processes, we're helping make it easier than ever for people across the UK to recycle their empty blister packs. Yesterday, we welcomed our stakeholders for a tour at our Hull facility, showcasing the full journey from waste to new materials.

Once collected, they're processed at our specialist facility, where we recover both plastic and aluminium. These valuable materials are then given a new purpose, with the recovered aluminium being smelted into some incredibly exciting new products… and we can't wait to share them with you soon!

With millions of blister packs used every year across the UK, improving access to recycling is a simple step that can make a real difference.

Follow the journey as our team strips back abandoned lockers and breathes new life into them using reclaimed materials. Salvaged wooden flooring is carefully pieced together to create a seamless collection of handcrafted doors, all fitted to a robust base of recovered wood and steel.

Introducing ‘The Material Apothecary’, a cabinet of recovered materials and future possibilities. With our Hull office rebuilt and ready for our staff, we designed a cabinet unit to showcase our many materials 🔧

Built from discarded staff lockers and reclaimed oak flooring, our team meticulously assembled this design piece by piece, using many reclaimed materials to showcase how we can transform waste. It will then house samples of the materials we recover and recycle, along with a screen in the centre to tell the story of our circular design process.
