Class is in session! On today's agenda The Lab W1 is hosting @raindancefilmfestival Saturday film school - and what a pleasure it is to see so many storytellers from all walks of life up, early ready to learn - pouring into The Heals Building at 10am 😍.

It's been a BIG week for stakeholder engagement, we've had meaningful conversations and visits to our exhibition and panel discussions from local residents and local professionals including the senior curator for Heals department store (3 visits in day!!!) And the likes of Dr. Martens plc, Pinterest, Vivobarefoot, LINLEY, Living Etc (magazine), Alexander McQueen, VIP guests such as Dennis Morris (photographer of Bob Marley & the Sex Pistols)...

But some of my most favourite moments in this space has been just stepping back listening to the buzz of connections being made, watching the conversations and the excitement about our mission to rewild Soho & Oxford St taking root 🌱.

We've started something very special here and I'm truly grateful to absolutely everyone who's come, shared, picked up the phone, brought the vibes and supported my mission for Co-Design Culture.

For those who've not yet been to see our #BetterLivingByDesign programme and exhibition yet - last chance to see it will be today from 12-5pm and tomorrow from 12-3pm!

Changing hearts and minds, building bridges between my worlds of craft, fashion, architecture and regenerative design: one conversation at a time.

Ready for Day 3, more conversations and making meaningful connections with our next event hosted by @louiejoefindlater and @raindancefilmfestival.

It always starts with a blank page & and empty space...

The professional photographer photos will follow, but for now - I just want to say a MASSIVE thank you from the very bottom of my heart to the people who checked in when I had ill health last month, who carried (literally) the load when I couldn't - and pulled up ready to help me install and launch our exhibition + programme for LDF-Soho.

The slogan I coined for @thelabw1 is #CoDesignCulture... this the ethos of my life.
It's also the future.
This is my tribe! It takes a village - and I'm so grateful for mine!

Did you know they can turn your rubbish into the filament that 3D prints a handbag?

This one’s a prototype, just a bit of fun — MyGroup @myrefactory is working with a university on it.

Yes, there’s still virgin plastic in the filament. That’s exactly what they’re trying to solve. Recycled doesn’t work the same.

Would you actually wear this?

Held the raw material in my hand first — shredded plastic, before it becomes anything.

This is what it looks like when people take waste seriously enough to keep experimenting.

I walked into @myrefactory studio and stopped in my tracks.

This gown is made entirely from recycled newsprint.

Sculptural. Off-the-shoulder. Built for a red carpet that hasn’t happened yet.

I couldn’t resist seeing myself in it — so I did, digitally, poolside (styled digitally, not a real shoot).

This is what circular fashion looks like when it goes big.

Someone needs to actually wear this somewhere incredible.

Entré al estudio de MyGroup y me quedé sin palabras. Este vestido está hecho completamente con papel de periódico reciclado — escultural, digno de alfombra roja. Me imaginé llevándolo junto a una piscina, de forma digital, porque merece un momento real.

People keep stopping me on the street to ask about this bag. It’s made from hi-vis workwear that MyGroup Ltd gets sent once it’s retired from job sites — the kind of thing you’d never look twice at on a worker’s back. Paired with leopard print, it shouldn’t work. It does. That’s the whole point of sustainable fashion — the most unlikely materials are usually sitting right in front of us, waiting to be seen differently.

La gente no para de pararme por la calle para preguntarme por este bolso. Está hecho con ropa de alta visibilidad que MyGroup Ltd recibe cuando se retira de las obras. Con print de leopardo, no debería funcionar. Pero funciona.

Not only did we manage to remove vast amounts of marine litter from Ulva's coastline, but thanks to a lot of planning, incredible collaboration between a wide range of organisations and individuals, recycling partners, funders and artists, alongside countless hours of hard work from our amazing volunteers, we were able to divert a significant proportion of the collected material away from landfill and incineration.

Instead, much of it went to be reused, upcycled or recycled. ♻️

This project proved that it is possible, but only with a huge amount of effort, the right partnerships, and both practical and financial support.

We also contributed to the Mull @fishing_for_litter_uk recycling coalition's rope recycling project with @waterhaul_co, depositing recovered rope at the Bakkafrost drop off point at Ulva Ferry

Handled a lot of “sustainable” bags.
These one stopped me.
Woven — not reed, but leather offcuts.
@myrefactory own offcuts.
Given to a community in Sri Lanka who weave natural fibres.
Because my group also invest in communities in SriLanka
Communities weaving Leather? New to them. First time.
Numbered pieces. Brass hardware. Hand-stitched zips.
The weave has real intrecciato energy — that same artisan spirit Bottega built a house on.
Waste doesn’t usually glow up like this.

Restos de cuero de MyGroup Ltd, tejidos por una comunidad en Sri Lanka. Primera vez que trabajan con cuero. Piezas numeradas, herrajes de latón. Un tejido con espíritu intrecciato — el mismo oficio artesanal de Bottega.

People say it can’t be done. It can. Stakeholders actually sitting round a table, working together — I didn’t think I’d see it. They don’t choose what comes in — it just arrives, whatever’s left once the useful bits are already gone. Sorting it all is half the battle. And still, the creative team makes something from it. Mind blowing.

Dropping bits over the next few days. This one’s worth the wait.

Hull, primer día. Fui a ver MyGroup Ltd — upcycling, pasando de verdad.

Dicen que no se puede. Sí se puede. Stakeholders sentados en la misma mesa, trabajando juntos de verdad — no pensé que lo vería. No eligen lo que llega — llega tal cual, lo que queda cuando ya han sacado lo aprovechable. Clasificarlo todo es media batalla. Y aun así, el equipo creativo saca algo de ahí. Alucinante.

Voy soltando piezas los próximos días. Esta merece la espera.
