Today I’ve come back to say thank you Jesus for blessing me with 8 beautiful years since my stem cell transplant 💕 what God can’t do truly doesn’t exist!

Life post sickle cell disease definitely still has its challenges, but when I look back and remember how the Lord has favored, kept, and blessed me - I have all the strength I need to keep pushing forward.

If you’re trusting God for breakthrough, answer prayers or fulfilled prophecy, keep your faith, it will surely come to pass 💕

Today marks 5 years..
.
5 years since my stem cell transplant. When I think of what God has done for me in the last 5 years I’m brought to tears. Thank you God for your love, favour and mercy. All I can do now is pay it forward and share this testimony with the world. God truly makes the impossible possible. So thankful for everyone God has placed in my life to help me get to this point!

Wondering where I’ve been this Sickle Cell Awareness Month… my advocacy looks a little different this year.

No events, just soaking up every beautiful moment with my miracle baby.. who is now a toddler 🥹

I’m resting in the fact that advocacy works. If I hadn’t fought for a cure, I wouldn’t have become the first adult in Western Canada to be cured of sickle cell disease through a stem cell transplant, and I wouldn’t have opened the door for so many other patients to find their cure. I’m so thankful for the favour I’ve seen in my life.

There’s still so much work to do, but for now, I’m enjoying everything that advocating for myself has brought me.💕

The Browns ❤️

Yesterday was my last day of maternity leave and I’m so emotional. The past 16 months with our sweet girl has been nothing sort of a dream. It has been chaotic, full of surprises but most of all full of a love and joy I can’t even explain. I’m going to miss hanging out with my mini me all day🥹 so thankful to God for this season and ready to take on the next 💕

I don’t even know where to begin. 🥹
There was a time I wasn’t sure I’d ever become a nurse. I was actually discouraged from pursuing nursing, told that the long hours and physical demands could be devastating for a body already fighting sickle cell disease.
.
But I am so grateful for the people who didn’t give up on me. The ones who believed in me when I couldn’t fully believe in myself and kept pushing me every step of the way.
.
This weekend I was honoured with Nurse of the Year at the Afro Diaspora Nurses Connect 3rd Annual Nurses Week Celebration & Awards and I am still in my feelings. 🏆
.
To @sandy_boujee and the @afrodiasporanursesconnect family — thank you for this incredible space. To my husband @kofintiamoah_ my constant, my safe place, my everything. 💕

God has been too good to me and my family. Grateful is an understatement🤍

The last couple weeks have been rough, managing baby illness and everything that comes along with it. When I have rough patches, the Lord always reminds me how much I’ve been through to get to this point.

I am truly so blessed to have such an amazing team taking care of me, trust me they’re worth travelling for 💕
.
On January 25th I will officially celebrate 8 years sickle cell free!!! I will never forget the day my doctor handed me my lab results only to find that my sickle cell screen came back negative! God is sooo good💕
.
My life post transplant isn’t perfect and I still do manage health concerns. 8 years ago I never would have imagined living this life 💕
