For those who are new here & because I haven’t done an intro post in years 🤍

I’m Natalie — a homemaker and homeschool mama of three, learning to build a peaceful home in the middle of full, noisy days.

I share our real rhythms of homemaking, homeschool, seasonal living, and the Christian books that are shaping my heart in this season.
I also love opening our home —
hosting simple gatherings, seasonal parties, birthdays and cozy nights with friends.
Because I believe community is part of a peaceful home too.

This space exists for the mama who feels stretched thin… but still deeply desires intention.

The one who wants:
• a slower pace
• faith-rooted motherhood
• a home that feels safe and warm
• and gentle encouragement along the way

I don’t have it all figured out.
Some days feel beautifully simple.
Some feel overwhelming.

But I believe homemaking is holy work.
And I believe our ordinary days matter.

If you’re trying to create peace in your home — without perfection — you’re in the right place

Autumn lately 🍂

We’ve had some beautiful warm and sunshiny days for October in Montana, and I am beyond thankful. We still have SO much to do to prep for winter on our little homestead, but our priority has been fixing our boiler first so we have heat 😬 last spring it went out and at the same time, so did our gas fire place 🤦🏻‍♀️ So when it starts snowing on Monday, we will be relying on electric heaters again.
We’ve winterized the rabbit hutch, built a new duck house, and are adding the boards back to the chicken coop tomorrow.
But we’re still working on how exactly we’re taking care of the horses this winter… 🥶 A new electric fence around the water Spicket is priority, and my husband already boarded up our old barn to protect the hay from snow.
I’m starting to put the garden to bed and will probably harvest the rest of my flowers this weekend before the snow.
I finally made two big batches of apple butter from the apple orchard haul. I still need to make more elderberry syrup from my elderberries that are in my freezer. We are about to switch our autumn books to Halloween 🎃. I have decorated for Halloween already, but it doesn’t feel like it quite yet.
I’ve been reading a lot, cleaning and purging a lot (I donated 4 garbage bags of clothes yesterday!!) and I’m feeling the urge to start settling into home and start my hibernating 😆 taken in Montana, Usa by @mysimplewild

Head to the blog to see how I hosted a simple handmade/market swap with a few friends. This is one social media trend I can get behind !
It doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated.
And autumn is a perfect time to host a swap !

#ad If you loved The Good Shepherd, you have to get The Good Farmer and the Worried Donkey ! I actually cried the first time I read this because it’s such a beautiful reminder that we do not have to carry our burdens and anxieties alone- He is there to cast our cares on Him.

The Good Farmer and the Worried Donkey is an honest and heartwarming picture book that reminds us that we are not alone and God is our strength. This story beautifully captures the essence of Matthew 11 (“his yoke is easy and his burden is light”) and the parable of the sower.
And the illustrations are GORGEOUS. 🥹

I am such a fan of this book series and my boys love them too.

I was #gifted a box of these @inpetsbio chicken treats, which got me doing a bit of research 🧐 And though I can’t make every single choice the best one on my little homestead, this does seem like an easy swap for the mealworms I was purchasing. I spend a bit extra to get a good local feed, but I honestly never even thought about the mealworms I give them as treats.
INPETS will be live on Amazon in early October ! 👍🏻
PS- Pippin the turkey loves the camera, doesn’t she ? 😆

🍏🍎A day at the apple orchard 🍎🍏
While my oldest and husband were camping with the Boy Scouts, me and the littles and some friends went to a local orchard and brought home 24 lbs of apples ! I have plans to make apple butter for Christmas gifts and we are making all the apple things. It was a sweet little field trip to and a week learning about apples. ☺️ taken in Montana, Usa by @mysimplewild

We started our homeschool rhythms back up this week- year 7 of homeschooling !
The morning started so wonderfully… we had cinnamon rolls and did our Bible studies and started lessons when my oldest yells “FIRE!” And I’m grabbing a burning book and running to the kitchen sink. His grammar workbook got too close to the candle 🤦🏻‍♀️ After cleaning up the ashes and taking a breath to compose ourselves and get back to it …. I then knock over the mason jar full of flowers and water and get everything SOAKED. Fires and floods over here in the Barnett house 🤪 But all is well and it was a good laugh.
It’s always a bit of chaos over here with 3 boys ❤️ taken in Montana, Usa by @mysimplewild
