It’s time for Slow Down Friday!

I’ve been reading study after study that children are less motivated now more than ever to β€œwork” and even less to β€œlearn”. I’m not sure how legitimate all of these studies are and if there is a drastic shift in work ethic or even in finding value and purpose in a complete and well done job, but one thing I do know is that we have the opportunity to POINT TO NATURE. Everything in nature is working, sometimes with great effort with lesser success and sometimes with a natural rhythm that brings what is needed, but almost always with a dedication that is hard to overlook.

The tenacity it takes to continue to work is seen in the life of the woodpecker and in the evidence along the bark of a tree. And in the end the hard work pays off. We can point to this tap tapping bird as we discuss how and why we work hard.

Birdwatching can turn into the life lessons we all need. When we slow down and pause we find the most worth in the everyday effort. We find what our culture might have forgotten and we gift it back to our own tap tapping explorers with their hearts and their eyes wide open as we GET TO spill it all out for them, one study, one step, one slow pause at a time.

It’s a rhythm of remembering.

And these mamas are choosing that this week
