Let's rewrite your job post title right now.

You're probably using something like:
"Painter Needed" or "Experienced Painter โ€” Apply Now"

Here's what you should be using:
"Experienced [Rose] โ€” $22โ€“$28/hr ยท Consistent Work ยท Professional Team"

The second title does three things the first one doesn't:

โ†’ Filters for experience level - so you attract people who can actually do the job
โ†’ Communicates the compensation upfront - so people can quickly determine if it fits their expectations
โ†’ Sets expectations about the opportunity - consistent work, professional team, clear environment

Serious candidates don't want mystery. They want to know if the role is a fit before they apply. Your title is the first piece of information that tells them.

Drop your current job post title in the comments โ€” I'll give you a rewrite.๐Ÿ‘‡ by @myvirtualresources

The easiest way to filter out time-wasters in your job post โ€” before a single interview:

End your post with this question:

"In your application, tell us about a job where you caught a problem before it became the customer's problem."

That's it.

Here's what it filters:
โ†’ Anyone who doesn't answer it didn't read the post carefully. Immediate pass.
โ†’ Anyone who answers with a vague non-answer isn't detail-oriented. Pass.
โ†’ Anyone who gives a specific, honest answer with a real example? That's your shortlist.

You're not looking for the "right" answer. You're looking for people who follow instructions, take the question seriously, and can think specifically about their work.

One question. Saves you hours of bad interviews.

Save this. Use it in your next post.๐Ÿ“Œ by @myvirtualresources

Here's something most painting contractors have learned the hard way:

Posting "Help Wanted โ€” competitive pay, apply now" does not attract reliable painters.

It attracts everyone. Which means it really attracts no one specific.

The people who respond to a generic job post are people who are responding to every generic job post. They're not looking for your company. They're looking for any option.

The candidates you actually want โ€” the ones who show up, do clean work, and don't create drama โ€” are typically employed. They're not scanning job boards desperately. They're looking at specific opportunities that feel like a real fit.

Your job post is the first conversation you have with every potential hire. If it sounds like everyone else's, you'll get everyone else's applicants.

Drop YES in the comments if you've struggled to find reliable painters โ€” I want to know how common this is. ๐Ÿ‘‡ by @myvirtualresources

Here's the honest truth about invoicing and cash flow for contractors:

Most contractors know exactly what they should be doing.

Same-day invoices. Deposits on every job. Consistent follow-up on overdue accounts. 15 minutes of cash visibility every Monday morning.

The information isn't the problem. The execution is.

When you're running crews, quoting new jobs, and managing customers โ€” invoicing gets pushed to the end of the day. Then the week. Then you have a stack of late invoices and a cash flow problem that didn't have to happen.

This is what a remote admin team fixes.

My Virtual Resources handles invoice sending, deposit collection, and AR follow-up for contractors โ€” so the money moves whether or not you had a chance to get to it.

If your invoicing is inconsistent and you know it โ€” DM me. Let's talk about what fixing it would actually look like.๐Ÿ‘‡ by @myvirtualresources

Contractors โ€” let's do some quick math.

How many jobs are you running per month? Let's say 20.
Average job value? Let's say $3,500.
That's $70,000 a month in revenue.

Now: how many of those invoices get paid within 7 days?

If it's fewer than half โ€” you're carrying $35,000+ in receivables at any given time that should already be in your account.

A same-day invoice habit, deposits on every booking, and a consistent follow-up process for overdue accounts can cut that number in half within 30 days.

No new marketing. No new leads. Just faster movement of money you've already earned.

Quick question: what's your average time from job completion to payment received? Drop your honest number below.๐Ÿ‘‡ by @myvirtualresources

Contractors โ€” here's how to follow up on an unpaid invoice without feeling like you're being rude.

You're not being rude. You did the work. You held up your end. Following up is professional, not pushy.

---
Step 1 โ€” Due date, unpaid (text):
"Hey [Name], just flagging that your invoice for [project] was due today. Here's the payment link if that's easier: [link]."

---
Step 2 โ€” 3 days past due (email):
Subject: Invoice Overdue โ€” [Your Company]
"Hi [Name], following up on the outstanding balance of $[X] for [project]. Please process payment by [date] โ€” let me know if you have any questions."

---
Step 3 โ€” 7 days past due (phone call):
"Hi [Name], this is [Your Name] calling about the outstanding balance on [project]. I wanted to connect directly โ€” when can we get this taken care of?"

---

Three steps. Matter-of-fact. Professional.

Most invoices get paid before Step 3. The ones that don't are almost always a miscommunication, not a refusal.

Save this. Use it this week on any open balances you've been putting off. ๐Ÿ“Œ by @myvirtualresources

Contractors โ€” you should be collecting a deposit on every single job.

Not because you don't trust the homeowner. Because you're currently financing every project yourself.

Think about it: you order the paint before the job starts. You pay your crew before you get paid. You're carrying all the financial risk until the invoice clears.

A 30โ€“50% deposit flips that.

Here's exactly how to ask for it โ€” no awkwardness, no apology:

"Our standard process is a 30% deposit to secure your start date and cover materials. The balance is due the day we complete. Does that work for you?"

That's it. Say it like it's normal. Because it is.

The homeowners who push back hard on a standard deposit are often the same ones who will be slow to pay the final invoice. A deposit request is a filter that works in your favor.

Save this script. Use it on your next booking. ๐Ÿ“Œ by @myvirtualresources

One change. No new software. No new system.

Send your invoice the same day every job finishes.

Not that evening. Not the next morning when you "get to it." Same day.

Here's why it matters: invoices sent same-day get paid an average of 5โ€“7 days faster than invoices sent later. On a $5,000 job, that's nearly a week of cash that's been sitting somewhere it shouldn't be.

Multiply that across 15โ€“20 jobs a month, and you're looking at $15,000+ in receivables that are moving slower than they need to โ€” just because the invoice wasn't sent fast enough.

Your phone does this in 3 minutes with Jobber, Housecall Pro, or QuickBooks mobile.

Are you currently sending invoices same day? Drop ALWAYS, SOMETIMES, or NEVER below. ๐Ÿ‘‡ by @myvirtualresources

Something I hear from contractors more than almost anything else:

"I'm fully booked, and I still can't make payroll."

If you've ever said this โ€” or thought it โ€” you're not alone. And it almost never means you're not making money.

It means the money isn't moving through your business the way it should.

Here's what's usually happening: you spend on materials before the job starts. You do the work. You invoice โ€” maybe same day, maybe a week later. Then you wait. And wait. And meanwhile your crew needs to get paid Friday.

That gap between money going out and money coming in is a paperwork problem. Not a revenue problem.

Has this ever happened to you? Drop YES in the comments โ€” I want to know how common this actually is. ๐Ÿ‘‡ by @myvirtualresources

Here's a 2-week test for contractors who want to know if their scheduling system is working:

Week 1: Run it exactly how you're running it now. Count how many times someone calls or texts you asking about the schedule. Count how many jobs start with something missing โ€” wrong info, no confirmation, crew asking questions
they shouldn't have to ask.

Week 2: Send a job-ready brief to your crew before every job. Confirm with every customer 48 hours before their start date. Enter every job into one shared calendar before you confirm it with the customer.

Count the same numbers.

Most contractors who do this test are genuinely surprised. Not because Week 2 is complicated. Because Week 1 numbers are higher than they realised.

Try it. What did you find? ๐Ÿ‘‡ by @myvirtualresources
