Harvest at Cremisan.

Among the vines of Beit Jala, another vintage begins.
Grapes gathered by hand, brought into the winery, tasted and transformed — with winemaker Fadi Batarseh following the fruit from vineyard to cellar.

Wine has been made at the Cremisan monastery since 1885. Today, that tradition continues through the vineyards, the indigenous grapes of Palestine, and the people who care for them.

Some evenings remind me why I love cooking so much.

Last night at @mambow_ldn was one of those evenings. Two kitchens coming together, sharing ideas, flavours, techniques and, above all, the pleasure of cooking alongside one another.

Bringing a little of @akub.london into Mambow's kitchen, from the charcoal fire to the vine leaves, from the fish to the knafeh, it was a beautiful conversation between Palestinian and Malaysian food. Different traditions, different memories, but so much in common in the way we approach food, hospitality and the joy of feeding people.

And of course, no Palestinian table would be complete without something to drink! Palestinian wines and beers, brought to the table by @nabeethwines, were part of the evening too. Another way of sharing the stories of our land, our farmers, our winemakers and brewers, and the traditions that continue to thrive through their work.

There is something very special about stepping into someone else's kitchen. Discovering their rhythms, exchanging stories, learning from one another, and finding that wonderful moment when everyone starts moving together as one team.

A huge thank you to Abby (@abby_lee_chef ) and the entire Mambow team for opening your kitchen and welcoming us so warmly. And to everyone who joined us around the tables, thank you for making the evening what it was.

Here's to more kitchens coming together, more conversations through food, more Palestinian wine and beer being shared around tables, and more evenings like this.

With love, from Palestine to Malaysia. ❤️ by @nabeethwines

Palestine has always made wine.

By the third millennium BCE, grapes were already being cultivated in Palestine. By the second millennium BCE, Egyptian records described a land of vineyards and wine — produced here, consumed here and traded beyond it.

Across the centuries, wine presses were cut into limestone hills and vineyards became part of the agricultural landscape.

Production rose and fell under successive rulers. But the vines remained. And vines travel. Grapes travel.
Some became deeply rooted in this land: Dabouki, Hamdani, Jandali, Zeini, Bitouni and Baladi. Others arrived through centuries of movement and exchange: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot.

Today, Palestinian winemakers work with both — indigenous grapes and international varieties — creating wines shaped by Palestinian soil, climate, knowledge and hands.

This is not a new wine region.

It is not a rediscovery.

It is a living wine culture, thousands of years old — still growing, still travelling, still evolving.
