A decade may seem a long time and naturally, some may have the impression that the business should be matured by now. Well, tbh I think 10 years felt like 10 months. Still more to do, more to learn, more to accomplish.
Being a self taught designer, I experienced a lot of hiccups, not understanding curbs of the business, the do’s and don’ts. Instead, I was drawn towards passion where risks are taken and bad decisions are made. At times, there are days when the super ambitious me is pumped and want to do all at once and some days, I feel like an imposter thinking “who are you calling designer?!” Amidst all that, one thing I constantly find comfort in is to be forever grateful of the opportunities that has been presented to me, to dress my supportive clients and to be able to live day by day with people I love. This post is an “I am grateful and Thank You” post for making this girl’s fashion design dream come true. .

I was invited by the Global Thai Silk Association in Bangkok to design a piece that brings together Thai silk and our traditional Malay textile, songket, for the Global Thai Silk Celebration 2026.

For this design, I wanted to explore something that connects us as Southeast Asian women, a shared sense of culture and belonging.

My inspiration came from the kipas, the traditional hand fan. Something so simple, yet so familiar to many of us. Whether carried as an elegant accessory at gatherings or simply used to keep cool in our tropical climate, the kipas has long been part of our everyday lives.

I wanted to reinterpret its beautiful shape through a contemporary silhouette, using black Thai silk to create sculptural, fan like folds that open to reveal the metallic blue Malay songket.

After years of designing, I find myself increasingly drawn to exploring how heritage can evolve through contemporary fashion, without losing the stories and traditions that make it meaningful.

Six years of ideation. Six months of writing code. One transformative milestone.

We joined the BICTA @bicta.bn Startup category seeking fresh feedback and market validation. To walk away with the Merit award has been an unexpected and deeply humbling experience.

Haus of Nahkya @hausofnahkya was born from the desire to create a premium, experience led fashtech platform. We are moving beyond the traditional to combine fashion, textile craftsmanship, digital technology and shared experiences.

Between flights, business meetings and daily prayers, we need a wardrobe that actually keeps up.

The market is still missing that perfect sweet spot so, I’m co-engineering a first capsule collection specifically for this lifestyle. The mission is simple: a modular wardrobe designed to seamlessly work, pray, and move.

From a designer’s perspective, this is all about the architecture of the garment. We’re focusing on heavy, 100% opaque fabrics, oversized silhouettes that refuse to cling, and layers that look highly editorial but are instantly prayer-ready.
