About a week ago, the first official clown cabaret open to the public was launched. It was the first time I brought the kind of clowning I love to a real audience, in the form of a performance, a cabaret. I didn’t know how it would be received... would they like it? Would they think it was stupid? Would they relate?

As I waited impatiently in the theatre while the doors opened, wondering if the room would be half full or full, I started to hear the chatter of the audience growing louder. I peeked in and saw a full house. People were even sitting on the stairs. I was nervous, we all were, but we shared the same knowing: clowning needs to go to the public. With the amazing support and guidance of @bricophonik, we performed. We explored topics close to our hearts : the power of love and the love of power. That was the umbrella that held all our different pieces together. Universal themes.

For the first time, I felt like I was doing exactly what I came here to do: facilitate transformation through connection. And that’s exactly what came back from the audience. “I feel transformed,” one person said. And that is the power of clown. Through the absurd, the messy, the real, the true.. people see themselves. Your clown opens a space where the audience can heal a small part inside. People told us they cried, they laughed, they screamed. One said, “For the first time, I feel like I could relate to what I am seeing.”

I am forever grateful to all the humans, entities, organizations, who have helped make this a reality.

Eyad @chantofluv Salma Enani @littlesalmagrows Liloo @lil0.mp4 Heba el Cheikh @hebaelcheikh @institutfrancais_egypte Sherif Gamil @dawar.arts Serena and Lionel @bricophonik

All the participants who pulled through the whole process and created from their hearts! And to the ones who couldn’t be with us during the performance.

Stay tuned for more Clown Cabarets from the community!

Today we planted food!
It was not so easy to navigate with the farmers as they were used to a way of farming that I don’t really like or agree with totally, but I surrendered because I didn’t have the energy to argue or convince. Also acknowledging the immense knowledge and experience these men carry. Some minds are just too stiff to negotiate with. It’s just that a-lot of these practices are not questioned, and we end up with lots of toxins in our food.
Plus, there is a lot of space unused because they dont like to mix. Im glad they at least agreed to do a polyculture 😂.
However I did demand, yes demand, to do a few things I wanted like companion planting - of course they were like “eeeeeehhhhh???”

That why I love permaculture or natural farming, because in small spaces you can plant many different crops that would benefit from another. Better usage of space, resources and energy.

But they are so lovely!

New Project “A Shed, Nile.”

Commissioned for @verynile @nakafo , The Shed comes as a part of a garden layout within the Island of Qursaya in southern Cairo. It functions as a resting place, contemplation space and a place for activity.

The whole structure is intended to be built with Bamboo and Natural materials to minimise land intervention and for ease of construction and deconstruction.

It was a pleasure to work and such a project and the feat took two days to construct :)

Stay tuned for more and DM for questions or inquiries if you want something like this in your backyard ❤️🌿

Beautiful stupid people!!
It’s happening.. an introduction to clown and grotesque spreading over 8 sessions!

I am in love with these two worlds sooo much! Together they really invite us to broaden the spectrum of Play!
With the clown we love, we laugh and we cry, we give space to our inner child, with the grotesque we provoke, we point out the truth and we mirror the injustices of the world using mockery.. giving space to our human underworld.

Sessions will be in Danssabeel Maadi.
