Today marks my 40th birthday ✨

Reflecting over the past few years, it has been all about destroying and rebuilding. I picked everything I knew apart as a way of seeking and taking responsibility for my own happiness.

To me, this meant giving up a long-time career to work with something closer to my values. Going through divorce with someone who has been my person for 15 years and trying to heal from the indescribable pain of not seeing my children every day 💔

Right now I’m at a place where the chosen loneliness feels like freedom. A place where I create a new universe together with my moon (loa🌙) and my sun (ayo🌞).
Life is carving me into the exact shape I need to be, and slowly I feel how the rough edges become softer.

As I find my way, I will continuously trust my intuition and do my best to live intentionally.
I do believe that the things I look for in life are also looking for me 🪐

So, surrounded by the most loving circle of family and friends, I can gratefully say that this is a happy birthday❤️

A fully booked Talent Talk at Röhsska Museum of Design and Craft brought together a broad crowd for an inspiring presentation and conversation with textile artist and designer Damien Ajavon, moderated by Nana Sacko.

“School did not teach me craft — community did,” Damien reflected.

Through weaving, memory, heritage and making, the conversation explored collaboration as far more than just working together: it requires mutual respect, clear boundaries, proper credit and a meaningful balance of give and take.

From independent artists and major institutions to master artisans, across disciplines and cultures, Damien reminded us that craft is carried not only through materials, but through communities, shared knowledge and stories and passed down across generations.

Were you in the room? What stayed with you? ✨

Opening this year’s first Talent Talks with textile artist Damien Ajavon ✨

We’re honoured to have @damien.a.a with us in Gothenburg for a lecture on craft as a space for healing and self-expression, and how textile practices can carry stories, identity, heritage and knowledge across generations and cultures.

After the lecture, I’ll have the luxury of moderating a one-on-one conversation with Damien about collaboration: across cultures and practices, and between independent artists and larger organisations.

What happens when different knowledge, practices and perspectives meet? What is the balance between give and take, and how do we create collaborations that are meaningful and beneficial for both sides?

I’ve been reflecting on this while also reading ”Why The Museum Matters” and how important it is to have places where these conversations can happen. Grateful to @rohsska for doing exactly that, also creating space for dialogue and exchange.

Join us this Thursday, 3 September at Röhsska.

Open to all! Reserve your seat, link in bio✨

📍CPH

Some personal reflections from #cphfw SS27, a few highlights and the thoughts that still echoes in my mind.

What I heard was hope. A belief in what we do and an optimism I haven’t felt in a very long time. It reminded me how fashion week can hold space for many things, often dismissed as surface level, yet capable of holding beauty and depth, strategy and joy, celebration and challenge.

The creators on the streets are such an important part of the industry, actively contributing to shaping brand identity. To me it’s liberating to see people build their own worlds. Creativity goes far beyond what we wear, what I see is how people open doors, put their work out there and create platforms that value personality over blending in.

The Opening Ceremony celebrating 20 years at the Royal Danish Opera was a beautiful experience. @ceciliethorsmark spoke about long-term relationships and collaboration, staying true to your core even when things feel shaky, and the importance of the designers and their work.

I AM ISIGO @iamisigo show shook me at my core. The music, political nuances, craft, art, upcycling and unexpected combinations, a reminder of how good it feels to actually feel something when you’re often numbed by too many impressions.

The @highsnobiety panel with @salehebembury on how imposter syndrome is a gift was raw and honest. Turning that feeling into strength, doing the work, being prepared when opportunity comes, and daring to reach out and ask was truly inspiring.

These conversations give me direction, purpose and reflection. @isabella_rose_celeste has done an incredible job shaping this part of fashion week and bringing more diverse perspectives to the table. You will be greatly missed!

Thank you for a wonderful week. I feel privileged to have been in these spaces, and I’m taking these learnings and inspiration forward into my work, committed to challenging how we do things.

Koroba braids by @ismajolie founder of @prettyrootz 🖤

Our process often starts with a feeling, gathering inspiration, sketching out specific elements, learning about the hairstyle, several voice notes back and forth, and finally hours of braiding and stitching.

The process is just as important as the end result. It’s about embracing. It’s about honoring its heritage. It’s about appreciating the art and craft.

Thank you @ismajolie for your incredible work, your patience and for always being open to my vision. by @nanasacko

The most beautiful thing someone has said to me in a very long time was, “I love the way she laughs. She’s going to live a very long life.”

I took that to heart.

It was @s.h.selassie father who said it. His eyesight isn’t what it used to be, and I imagine that when one sense softens the others grow stronger. Somehow that made his words mean even more.

Grateful to be in one place with my sisters, our kids, and to have shared this moment together. taken in Bordeaux, France by @nanasacko

Today @sylvi_sundkler launched an exclusive capsule collection in collaboration with @swedishstockings beautifully crafted from discarded stockings✨

What impressed me most was seeing founder and fashion designer Matilda involved in every step of the process, starting with the textile sorting. Having worked with many designers in this phase, I was amazed by her ability to look beyond the material and product itself. She never saw defects she saw colour, shades and possibilities, creating a striking gradient that reflected her talent and vision as a designer.

What makes this project even more meaningful is that it goes beyond “just another collection”. Together we’ve helped connect @swedishstockings with regional experts in textile sorting to support the scaling of their take-back initiative the ”Recycling Club” and contribute to building a stronger circular system.

Congratulations on a beautiful collection and even more so on continuing to deepen your circular design process. Always a pleasure working with you! @sylvi_sundkler

A big thank you to the wonderful team at Swedish Stockings for your commitment @bbbbbiiiiaaa @tessgroth @natashamalmestrom @johannajuelsson and to the Textile Movement Talent Programme at Lindholmen Science Park co-funded by Västra Götalandsregionen for supporting in making this possible.
