A fully booked Talent Talk at Röhsska Museum of Design and Craft brought together a broad crowd for an inspiring presentation and conversation with textile artist and designer Damien Ajavon, moderated by Nana Sacko.

“School did not teach me craft — community did,” Damien reflected.

Through weaving, memory, heritage and making, the conversation explored collaboration as far more than just working together: it requires mutual respect, clear boundaries, proper credit and a meaningful balance of give and take.

From independent artists and major institutions to master artisans, across disciplines and cultures, Damien reminded us that craft is carried not only through materials, but through communities, shared knowledge and stories and passed down across generations.

Inherited Tracings is an ongoing fashion project, in which I transform pre-owned men’s shirts into unique, handmade pieces. I deconstruct and reshape each shirt, sometimes incorporating vintage and deadstock materials, handwoven lace, inherited textiles, and leftover ribbons. For this showroom, I'm collaborating with artist Anja Fredell and photographer Parinazz Wennerholm. I used leftover materials from Anja’s tufting practice to create a new Inherited Tracings shirt, while Parinazz developed a photographic series around our work. Together, our practices in fashion, art, and photography tell a shared story of materials, craftsmanship, and reuse. I would like to thank the Textile Movement Talent Program and Nana Sacko for their generous support; Templet Showroom and Ali Davoodi for making this exhibition possible; and KÄLLSJÖ BRYGGERI & SMAKSMEDJA for providing their unique kombucha for the opening. Glimpses from day 2 and 3 in Copenhagen @cphfw

Day 2 brought shows and sharp inspiration, including the @ssonstudios show and watching @paolina_russo alongside @nanasacko and @anotherblog.se.

Day 3, Stina from @rentstudio.se joined me, and the day ended at the @rotatebirgerchristensen wedding party, which was good enough that we decided to walk home through the whole city instead of taking an uber or a bike like civilized people.

That’s the part of fashion week I love most, the people, the conversations and the moments in between
