25 years later, it seemed fitting to host our annual kick-off on September 11th. I felt comforted, surrounded by such change makers, who work daily in school cafeterias, classrooms and recess yards to bring access to nourishing food and active play for children in public schools around this country. We are a beautiful team, a beautiful community. We will never forget September 11th and we will do our small part to continue to heal a broken world. Thank you team @wellnessintheschools, thank you to our keynote speakers @jennawolfe and Alessandro Palumbo. Thank you @brooklynbasketball for hosting us. Together #yeswecan by @nancy.easton

What better way to celebrate 29 years of marriage than racing the @armywestpoint triathlon, followed by dinner with @sadienipon @jake_abraham_ @zanenipon? Missed you @willn_3 @charjohnson12. What a pleasure it was to sit down with @siobhanrdevine and @wellnessintheschools board member @rfalkon of From Scratch for a candid conversation about what it’s actually taken to build @wellnessintheschools over the past 20 years. We talked about how long it really takes to prove a nonprofit is making a difference, why hardworking, committed people matter more than raw talent when building a team, and how differently I think about risk at age 60 versus 40. Grateful for the thoughtful questions and for a new space where founders can talk about the stickier parts of building a new venture, and the real-life stakes behind it. What a treat to represent @wellnessintheschools at @The FoundationforFreshProduce inaugural Child Nutrition Education Network Leadership Fellows Retreat. It was an intentionally small group of founders and leaders with common goals and aspirations. Wonderful to spend time with like minded leaders, some of whom I only knew from afar. Super to cap off the event with a meal at @denverbotanic. Lots of work to do and happy to be doing it alongside this group of leaders. #feedkidsrealfood by @nancy.easton

Last week, I had the great honor of receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from @tischfoodcenter. Good news is we have only just begun! I am humbled and accept this with an entire village behind me - our many partners (too many to tag), the extraordinary @wellnessintheschools team, and yes my family. Thank you @niponandrew and @zanenipon for sharing the moment with me and for so many team members for being there too. Last year I turned 60. At the same time @wellnessintheschools turned 20. Both milestones had me reflecting on purpose and legacy. I am lucky to wake up each morning to purposeful work, to spend each day with change makers doing our very best to improve the wellbeing of children. Today, I am launching Small Moments, Big Impact, a new series sharing stories from the humans I get to work with, whose work brings hope to life every day. My hope? That these stories remind us that joy, kindness and connection are happening around us every single day, and that small moments can make a big difference. 💛
