She seemed immortal in so many ways. Hearing about the loss of Dolly Parton brings such a rush of sadness.

Her music was a part of my life since childhood as my father introduced us to her with what must have been every album she had at that time, and all of the Porter Wagner/Dolly albums. My favorite Dolly and Dad moment was taking my dad to DollyWood soon after it opened in 1986. You could feel her sparkle everywhere.

Although I never got to meet her, spending most of my life in the music business, I’ve been able to hear many up-close and personal stories about her genuine kindness and sincere love of humanity. I’m thrilled and not surprised that Dolly filled the highest expectations of everyone who met her.

We are fortunate to be able to always have her close to us through the beautiful music she shared. She will continue to be cherished for all the philanthropic work she’s done for all of us. Her authentic style in life, love and music is a gift to be eternally treasured as she lives on in our hearts forever.

My favorite sentiment I’ve seen today is simply - “Be Like Dolly”.

May she rest in peace with Carl.

In 1984 producer Alan Sacks approached the HAGS about making a movie based on our all-girl punk skateboard gang. He’d read an article about the HAGS in the LA Weekly. So, he started following us around to skate spots and punk clubs to get a “feel” for what we were doing. Next thing we knew there was a script titled “Skate Or Die”, BUT the main characters were guys, not female skaters like us. At first they gave us small parts, but those quickly disappeared, and then the title was changed to “Thrashin’”. We were little more than extras in the movie Alan Sacks said we inspired. Now it’s the 40th anniversary of Thrashin’, and @80slife4ever is hosting a huge celebration on 8/29 at the @skateboardinghalloffame. Come on down and see the HAGS — the real-life inspiration for The Daggers!

December 2017, Bust Magazine article about our female skateboard gang, our rowdy power posse, the HAGS, 30 years after we rolled through the streets and clubs of L.A. 💫 Written by @emilysavage_for_real, this is the article that inspired Director @alisontaupier , Executive Producer @therealpaulcrowder (editor of Dogtown and Z-Boys), and Producer @mshevloff to make a documentary about us — coming soon! HAGS rule! ☠️🤘#floworgohome #thehagsdocumentary #1980sfemaleskatecrew #skatepunk by @nancy_sefton

L.A. Times, August 10, 1984. We were interviewed and photographed at HAGS Headquarters. Top photo — skating at a school down the street where Sevie tagged the tennis court, Raggirl sitting in the background because she had a broken leg. Bottom photo — sitting on Raggirl’s 1960 pink Cadillac that was permanently parked on the front lawn due to her having lost the keys skating. If you read the entire article you will know exactly how Alan Sacks came up with the plot to Thrashin’. Hags rule! Top photo, L to R: @dogsrulela_sevie , @kerens_hair661, @gardia_fox. People all over America joined their voices together yesterday. It felt different. It felt good. Feels like a tide is turning. Talking about a revolution.

Some might say we’ve been here before, but we must continue this journey. It’s the only way to keep our democracy.

We The People Rule America

Here are some pics of my favorite signs (most from Palm Springs rally, where a few thousand stood together in Sunrise Park yesterday)
