@jado_plants is a Horticultural Chargehand at St James’ Park. I loved working on this painting; filling the image with greenery while paying attention to little details like Jade’s tattoos and freckles. It felt important to me to paint gardeners. People deeply connected to the soil and nature, are people we should be celebrating more than ever right now.🌿

‘Gardening brings me a joy that I haven’t found in any other job. My favourite tasks involve pruning and site regeneration. The benefits for the mind and body are unmatched and I feel so privileged to work in St James park!’ 🌿🌱🌿

Salpiglossis, Odyssey roses, pink scabious, cloud grass, cornflowers, clarkia, larkspur, gladiolus papilio & pink meadowsweet. To me, the names sound like a poem. This watercolour was inspired by the most stunning arrangement of flowers from @vervainflowers

The team of volunteer gardeners happened to be working against the dramatic backdrop of Buckingham Palace, but I got a real sense that once they were busy dead-heading geraniums and chatting away, they could have been in any garden and been just as happy. by @nancyoconnorillustration

A week on from an unforgettable first RHS experience, we’ve been reflecting on what an incredible week it was and the many people who helped make it possible. While the stand may have carried the Chapman name, it was made possible by a huge number of talented, generous and supportive people behind the scenes.

A huge thank you to Dan & Andy and the entire team at @livingconcepts including Paul, Fiona and Liz, for bringing our floral vision to life. You went above and beyond from start to finish, and we couldn’t have been happier with the final display.

To Fiona & Liz, our favourite flower ladies, thank you for keeping everything looking beautiful and fresh throughout the week.

To @nancyoconnorillustration , thank you for creating the most beautiful painting of our new Madeleine bag - we absolutely love it.

To Cubby Signs, thank you for printing our signage at such short notice and helping us pull everything together in time.

To Jack, our fabulous joiner, thank you for helping make our display units the perfect fit.

To everyone who visited our stand - whether you purchased a bag, stopped to browse, or simply came over to say hello - thank you. It was a pleasure meeting so many of you and sharing the Chapman story.

Thank you @chapmanbags for commissioning me to paint your new ‘Madeline’ bucket bag for the Chelsea Flower Show. It was such a pleasure to spend time with the team on the stand; Cedric, Jess, Laura and Jayne!

Jess is one of my best friends and we met years ago on our art foundation course, so collaborating together on this project felt incredibly special. She designs Chapmans’ artisan handcrafted handbags in Carlisle, Cumbria. Their respect for craftsmanship and handmade work made this commission even more meaningful.

It was also wonderful to see Jayne painting leatherwork live on the stand, creating bespoke pieces.

And to make the experience even more memorable, I brought my baby to the show!! No mean feat (more baby changing facilities please @rhs!) but such a special one to share together 💕🌺💕 by @nancyoconnorillustration
