August & summer slipped away like a bottle of wine or a spilled espresso on my desk. I drew, I danced, and I wrote poems. Beaches and mountains of the precious precious homeland speak to me like a visitation in a dream. Saida. Sour. Jezzine. Up north: Batroun, and the typical road trip through the villages. I linger in the garden, in my room, in the kitchen. We run into a donkey who stops my father's car as my mother's laughter echoes around. The sun and a rusty red full moon rule over me in protection. I look sideways before crossing the road. Been growing up here & there lately, as I find رضاكي يا امي somewhere away from home because I can't stop looking for it everywhere I go.

May life keep feeding us Augusts full of beauty and the art of letting go whenever the heat of things gets too heavy. by @nancyyslim

The old @weblendout plastic bag. Dad had been using this bag to carefully keep his favourite kitchen knife wrapped and stored, and when he brought it to light today I realised that I haven't seen this design in a verryyyy long time. It took me back to a childhood and times spent in a different house studying إملاء وتعبير كتابي in the kitchen, long summer afternoons and the smell of my favourite house cooked meal at teta's, listening to conversations the adults were having about politics that we now know are way too complicated to understand.

It took me back to those simpler times when the hours used to slow down and would only run faster when we're having fun, having a great conversation, or having a good meal.

And as much as I love this new form of coffee we consume: the iced latte, I will choose a good old فنجان قهوة (preferably brewed with coffee bought in this plastic bag) over it anytime. Always. taken in Saida - صيدا by @nancyyslim
